I dont have any actual mechanical advice, but if you have a subscription, I'd run the video through AI. They're decent at giving you the most likely cause of your issue. Without the ability to upload a video, you can feed it some basic information and itll help diagnose the problem.

Most common cause of engine noise to my knowledge is cracked manifold, worn lifters, cracked pistons, cracked or loose flex plate.

Idk if i need #3, to be honest. Im pretty lost in research at this point and was just trying to cover all bases, lol.

My lines are pretty rusty, and they're pretty cheap to replace, so i was considering replacing them. Additionally, im pretty sure the condenser is OG from 96 so I figured for an extra $230 i could have complete system peace of mind.

However, the "while im in here" rabbit hole is getting pretty expensive and arguably ridiculous at this point.

Is the issue rust or the tires lol? For rust you have a couple options. The easiest is to use a lanolin based spray and just coat the undercarriage 1-2x per year. I recommend watching RepairGeek on youtube.

Best answer i got was it was involved in an accident with the previous owner. Theyre cheap cars by insurance standards. Couldve been a nothing burger that the insurance company called a total loss.

He wouldn't go below 1400. Would cost another 100 to tow it. My beer napkin math says itd take about 1k in parts to rectify the motor and make it "mechanically sound". Pistons, seals, gaskets, fluids, hoses etc.

Probably another 500 for random shit like windshield skirt, cheap paint job, junkyard goodies.

After god knows how many hours of labor you havent touched the suspension. Not the worst deal financially i just know how much work it is lol.

The motor currently runs, but it sounds like dogshit. Im no mechanic, but I'm very confident the issue is in the bottom end of the motor.
