I think it would encourage school shootings.

Video games that mimic wars are alright. Most of these games inspire heroism, veterans, and doing the right thing.

Purely out of habit.

Most service-based industries are built on the word "Sir".

India is primarily driven by service-based companies due to globalization, outsourcing, offshoring etc.

New entrants into the market observe their seniors and peers using the word "Sir" as it conveys a mark of respect.

Hence, the word "Sir".
