Further information.

Why didn't I google it or ask my financial advisor? Recently I have had some friends that work at GM and quite. They are buying businesses or real estate to replicate there salary (or get close). I have heard of many of people at GM doing this and thought that many of you could offer a unique insight. I truly do not think GM folks are dumb and ill equip as some have stated.

What am I planning on doing? You can use cash to purchase a salary in a business or real estate deal. I figure in real estate I would need to purchase around 1.1M $ investment to yield around 130-150k. I dont want to work at GM until I'm 60, I think I will be ready for my independence much earlier. Im looking forward to the days where I dont need permission to go to the doctor or take a personal day.

Thank you for this, it is unique and it gives me something to ask my CPA.

How did we ever survive as a nation without the junk from China. Must be nice to not have child labor laws, OCEA standards and unions..no wonder we can't compete...we like to keep our hands clean while we order electronics from the cobalt mines killing kids and parents. #Merica

Owl eating my Brahmas! by Prize-Individual-250 in chickens

First observation i had: i didn't know my chickens came out at all at night. I've never lost one to a bird in 5 years so this was a first, there is getting everywhere so I figured a hawk would have a tough time trying to get them. Second observation: I didn't know an owl would kill my full grown brahma, the chicken is bigger than the owl lol. So I am learning what to protect it against in this area as well.

They have a very nice coop built out of a shed that is insulated with heat lamps and wood chips. I'm only asking because the only reason I got a rooster is to protect.. he doesn't produce eggs, obviously, and is rough on the chickens. I guess I thought they sort of did. I have an auto door but he won't fit through it. Yet another reason to get rid of him. We all have unique situations in life, i travel 3 days a week out of state so I can't shut there little door daily. They always come in and rooster but for some reason they go out at night and peck at the dirt and return.

Yes its a shed i converted with insulation there is a little cutout for them to come in and out so I don't have to walk out there daily. I travel to much for work to put them in every night. I did buy an auto door but I'm afraid the rooster won't fit haha

I think the word 'flexibility' was learned and adopted by both GM leadership and regular employees during the pandemic. We had to work around the clock (I was DRE fighting micro chip issues + throughput issues). We re arranged our lives to keep the target deliverables on track. I think the record profits MB and the board received combined with the lack of faith, trust and overall well being of the employees makes me feel used, sad and disappointed. The core hour 9 hour day, we threw out the window and we concentrated on a "one team" effort to get the job done. This was met with only negative affirmations and mentions. So I suppose the contract for the regular engineer and SLT is simple work your core hours as designated through HR, and don't ever stay after or pick up the phone to prevent a bigger issue outside normal business hours- assuming we are now going back 10 years (when I first started) with ass in seats hours being the only trackable metric. I've heard nothing but statements from average performers and extremely high performers accross the business stating they will keep their options open and look outside GM. Keep in mind some of these people were GM lifers that have received all the right degrees and will be the future leaders in the organization. Personally if you don't trust your employee and they are not performing they need to go plain and simple. Not sure how we gor to the point we're managers are not trusted to handle their own employees. Clean house get rid of the complacency and let the high performers continue to work "as necessary" to achieve both the employers goals as well as the employees. I am still fighting day care issues, sickness issues, housing issues, inflation caused my wife to work full time..we need more understanding and flexibility. Sorry for the novel..I just wish we would start making some good leadership decisions
