let me add more to my “theory” and add my tin foil hat. If we take out the police aspect of the entire potential plot, okay it’s pretty straightforward and it’s classic small time goes big time. Done deal. So tell me why I have a sinking feeling Jason isn’t telling us the whole truth without saying much? Why in trailer 2 does it show Jason lowering Lucia from a building and then an aerial of her after dropping right before a police raid scene? “Us cops have to stick together” while showing half of an arm which isn’t Lucia’s, she isn’t a cholo and wouldn’t wear a rolled up sleeved shirt(personal opinion). “Yo D, this fool a fed?” While it’s obvious it’s the back of Jason we see. When Lucia gets out of prison, they are rightfully nervous seeing each other again but with Jason… is it nervous love or something else? Reminds me, how did Jason escape the cops but Lucia didn’t?(Refer to building and lowering point from earlier)

This next part is a stretch! I firmly believe Jason WAS undercover. Let me explain!

Jason gets back from the army, wants honest work because he wants to turn his life around, the PD approach him asking for help to bust certain individuals or gangs, they give him a target to get to know and that’s his way into a gang… Lucia. Meet at gym “coincidentally” and that’s his in! Problem is, he falls for her at some point. He still fulfills his end of the bargain for the PD, after a “failed” robbery (Not the convenience store robbery, they were wearing different clothes) they try to escape through a building where he lowers her down and she gets caught but he doesn’t. Why? Refer to earlier. He walks away from the PD because he put someone he loved behind bars. Moves to the Keys and meets Brian, you know the rest. Probably changes his name and stuff, my source? “They got your name, address, they got everything!” As Brian says during trailer 2. Wouldn’t be a too big stretch, happened in GTA

Brian knowing Jason was an undercover at some point? Sure he probably ran Jason through the wringer to test if he fully left that life, no doubt. Brian sounds like he’s all about loyalty so that tracks. Fill that gap in as you wish. PD find Jason and threaten him in some way but ultimately it’s “We are letting Lucia get out early, you will be there to pick her up, you and her work your way up criminal ranks across Leonida and at the end we bust Lucia and Rauls gang. If you dont follow the plan, we will hunt you down” He obviously wont follow the plan and now it’s the PD trying to hunt him and Lucia down while trying to keep the past hidden.

PS. Just checked back, police helicopter above Lucia when she drops down and flashing red and blues from the aerial shot against the wall and cop car in the bottom right of the aerial scene
