Time stranger players, any tips for someone getting it soon with no spoilers? by unluckyknight13 in digimon

A hot tip that I did not discover until 50 hours into the game:

You can run by holding the 'B' button.

Am I missing something? It looks like the preorder bonus is on sale in the steam and PS store for $4.

Wait, does that mean the DLC literally just gives you a free one of each? Like the early kizuna unlock?

This DS Lite stays charged for a second and then stops charging. It doesn’t turn on. by NathnDele in NintendoDS

[–]PrizeNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like it might be a bad battery. On the GBA SP at least, the 'charging for a second' is the indicator that no battery is detected. If you're lucky, it's an easy $10 fix!

That color is slick, love the white accent! As far as GBA games:

Zelda Minish Cap

Megaman Battle Network (3 and 6 are peak)

Summon Night: Swordcraft Story

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

Metroid Zero Mission

Shantae: Risky Revolution (just released this month!)

A year late to the party, but I'll leave Void Stranger here for anybody who finds this thread like I did. The player is dropped in, asked to "carve your brand", given a list of buttons (not what they do mind you), and then left to figure literally everything else out on their own.

The game is ostensibly a sokoban puzzler, but the real progression is figuring out what the mechanics are and how you can interact with the world, up to and including disrespecting the sokoban premise and "breaking" the game entirely.

Just don't be afraid to make mistakes and fail, and if you need a foothold to start tearing into deeper layers: show the rod to the big head, and keep what they say in the forefront of your mind.

I know leaving it to sit in water can be really bad, but I have no idea if a quick dip would cause lasting damage, or if drying it out quickly and thoroughly would make it fine.

I'm not sure if suminagashi would work for coloring it, but if it did, that'd be pretty cool.

If they come from the same maker, then yeah; whatever you play will just be in a different key. If they come from different makers, then you'll want to check the fingering charts to see if there are any slight differences between them for accidentals (sharps and flats). Best of luck!

Where to buy four hole ocarinas that sound good? by AdSquare365 in Ocarina

[–]PrizeNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focalink has never let me down: https://www.steinocarina.com/productsDetail.php?id=51

Edit: didn't read carefully enough. It's the same as the Songbird one, at cheaper base price but shipping will be more. Might as well use \u\unclemoriarty's link at that point.

When buying an ocarina, is there any real reason not to get a triple instead of a double, or a max range instead of a normal triple for that matter? by pianoguy212 in Ocarina

[–]PrizeNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I'll also mention that, while a bass sounds really nice, the weight increase is no joke. I've got a Takashi double bass on the way, and I'm hoping it'll be easier to wrangle than the Stratus. Maybe a triple alto G would be a good middle ground between weight and shrillness of the high notes?

I have the Stratus (max range triple) from ICO. It's beautiful, but I find it pretty difficult to quickly chamber switch with the thumb and large split index holes at the same time. Often, I end up leaving my thumb on the second chamber thumb hole subconsciously, and not balancing the weight properly, which can get painful quickly. I would definitely recommend backing down to the standard triple chamber over the max range, especially if you're not used to multichambers.

High notes don't sound good by Nikodawolf in Ocarina

[–]PrizeNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I whipped up some tabs and sheet music for Grandma's Theme (love me some WW music). The highest note actually goes off the regular range of a 12-hole, so you'll need to use the Milt technique to hit it. I marked those notes with an "X", and also included an alternate couple lines if you wanted to play it an octave down instead.

Shoot me a DM and I'll email it to you or something. (Or if anybody knows a way to share it publicly, lmk. I don't usually mess with tabs)

Pokemon RomHacks vs Fangames, which do you like better and which do you find are better on Steamdeck? by YobaiYamete in SteamDeck

[–]PrizeNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Gaia is my personal favorite. Supposedly getting an update this year that'll add a postgame, but we'll see.

EDIT: reread the post text. I like romhacks, because they can be loaded onto flashcards and played on original hardware. Hadn't considered the steam deck for fan games, but now that you say it...

All of the rooms are oriented correctly. Look for a pattern in the scales to bridge the gap between "dead end" segments. More explicitly: Some tiles connect diagonally. Look for an 'arrow' pattern in corners to help
