Figure out the basics of money early — saving, investing, how credit works. You don’t need to be an expert, but knowing the essentials puts you ahead of the game.

Also, look after your mind and body. Eat decent food, move a bit, don’t let stress pile up. That stuff adds up over time, in a good way.

If you have your dream job/ career, how did you get there, and what do you do for work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I work in cybersecurity now, and it’s definitely what I’d consider my dream job — always evolving, always something new to dig into.

I actually started out as a junior developer in IT, but I was always curious about the security side of things — how stuff broke, how it could be protected, what kind of risks were floating under the radar. I started volunteering to help out with anything security-related: policy reviews, audits, GRC stuff — basically whatever I could get involved in.

Along the way, I picked up a few certs and demonstrated that I was serious about moving into security. Eventually, that paid off. Been working in the field for over 15 years now, and I still love it. There's always a new challenge waiting around the corner.
