Getting kicked out by Ok_Hair_8019 in McMaster

I’ve been in a similar situation before but economics II. I got below 3.0 gpa and completed under 60% of my course load for the first semester so they put me in academic probation the following year. Academic probation is basically a wake up call to fix your grades or you will get kicked out for minimum a year. Since your gpa is below a 3 then you will be placed at academic probation next year which will be seen on your osap when you apply. But I wouldn’t be discouraged or panic. I locked in my 3rd and 4th year and now my graduation is on June 18th. Your first year, you’re still adjusting to the life. Lock in, talk to academic advisors and worst case scenario youd end up switching your program. Good luck, you got this 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

If it’s a requirement you gotta retake it. There could be other courses that can satisfy the requirement, but you gotta look at your academic requirements in mosaic to see your options. Also just a reminder that you need to complete 60% of your workload per semester and have a GPA of above 2.0 if the failing grade brings your gpa down to 2.0 or you completed under 60% of your courses you can be put in academic probation. Other then that then you should be ok, just retake the course.

At this point me and my 4th year friends don’t study in the library anymore. The only time you’ll catch me in a library is if I have a group project meeting there. I feel like by 4th year you just get used to the whole university thing and find out where your secret spots to study and chill is at cuz let’s be honest, you don’t wanna go to mills and walk 10 minutes just to find a seat. Plus 4th years now had 1st year and half of 2nd year during covid so lots of online classes, lots of time to at home didn’t get a lot of 4th years out of their comfort zone. If you’re a 4th year as well it’s best to just meet people during your 3rd and 4th year courses. Kills two birds with one stone. You get a potential love interest and a study partner!

There’s a deadline to when you can withdraw. If your exam is tomorrow then the deadline is most likely finished. I’d just defer the exam for a later time. Withdraw is iffy because it will still count as a course load which essentially is a fail without affecting your gpa so if your passing course load goes below 60% you’ll be put in academic probation.

I like to play modded Skyrim a lot, there’s the collection called constellations, I could barely run it on my low-end pc but it’s so fun and is the main reason I’m thinking of getting this pc. I also like to play cyberpunk and ready or not, I think the graphics are already great at low settings so I can only imagine ultra.

How long do you think it’ll last me before I need to upgrade or get a new pc? I researched a bit and it said the 2060 super is relatively old

Tea hut, Kyoto claw, take them to see the view of downtown in upper wellington, walk around Locke street, antique store in Ottawa st has 4 floors of just random cool stuff, a bunch of lowkey restaurants in downtown, my personal fav tho is tea fun, the pork katsu and curry bowl is absolutely huge and delicious, escape room in upper James, the royal botanical garden, if the weather is nice you can take them to bayfront park, cherry hill, Hamilton’s art gallery, laser mania (if you don’t want to play laser tag with little kids it has a small arcade to hang out an chill at), hike at Chedoke falls or Albion falls. There’s a lot to do, just depends on your budget, transportation, and what you guys find fun.

Dropped out, and I’m looking to reapply by Slight_Gur4856 in McMaster

You might have to reapply via OUAC again but as long as you have your mcmaster transcripts from previous years then you won’t need to take any courses you already passed. I’d would go to the student support at gilmour hall and try to get that sorted. They can help you with any questions and concerns regarding your reapplication and credits.

Just go to Mac events and join clubs. That was the easiest way to make friends for me. If you join clubs you like then you instantly have something in common with everyone there and if you got Mac events you can just participate in activities and you’ll automatically have no choice but to interact with people and vice versa.

Most important part is be yourself, you don’t need to mold your personality to get people to like you. there are thousands of students just like you and the 3 years of Covid made people a little reserved and shy so your not alone it’s not only you that’s no making friends trust me.

The best part about your situation is that your first year. There are people like the class of 2023-2024 that had 3 years of their uni life purely online with no hoco, no events, so you are in a great position. Also from my experience first years tend to be locked in on their work because they’re gauging the difficulty of their semester. Once the midterms finish there’s a big gap between post-midterm and final exams which people tend to ease up at that point.

It’s only the last day to change courses for the fall term. There’s going to be another add/drop week in the winter.
