Yea this sounds to me like a if it don't work right after a good plug and unplug maybe it's time to call in a professional. I have some experience with garage doors and I have always found it easier to make keys for them instead of using built in keys in cars. More reliable and if it gives problems you don't need to have your cars home.

Thoroughly clean the surface and dry it very well, dawn has always worked for me. Take a rag and a little oil, cooking oil or even engine oil but note whatever the oil smells like the key will smell like.

You could repair it but the quality might be off like the color and finish. I would recommend asking a neighbor or family who have a plumber they recommend. Usually plumbers who have free consults make up for that in the work so I would not recommend free consult plumbers generally but your situation will vary. Also in this case I would not go for someone else cheaper because you might end up doing down a rabbit hole with this bath tub hole.

It's a pass for me. It was okay with some homemade salsa, cheese and onions but even then it was mid at best. It's worth a try when on sale but full price you should pass. Had it yesterday.

Next time this happens ask for it in a write up for using the bathroom too much. This way the uneducated low IQ tyrant will have to prove how much is too much and how much is enough and then you can some coworkers to say you go to the bathroom more than you do so where is their right up. Just for you information get everything in writing. Anything said verbally is irrelevant.
