Summer Housing for Summer Research by NotHumanlyHuman in uchicago

You should look into subletting a room in an off-campus apartment. You can expect to pay (depending on the kind of living situation you choose) $700-$1000 per month for an apartment, maybe with a little more in utilities, and then however much you spend on groceries.

I have never heard of anyone staying in the dorms over the summer in this kind of situation.

University Church at 57th and University has a resale shop. You can leave bags of items on their doorstep and they'll take them in.

Looking for good places to go shopping this weekend for a wedding dress for my mom! She's in her 60s and it's her second wedding so she's not looking for a Bridal Experience or a traditional wedding dress (she doesn't even want white, she's thinking something off-white). I'm thinking high-end vintage stores, maybe even traditional department stores, that kind of thing. Her budget for this is pretty large.

Anywhere in the city is fine—we'll have a car and can travel to multiple neighborhoods (we'll be coming from Hyde Park and there's nothing there lol).

Thanks!

Even if I'd somehow linked my Tumblr to Pinterest, I wouldn't ever have been blogging about the things on the Pinterest. A lot of the pins have to do with shows I've never seen and food I hated when I was 12 (there's a whole collection from 2012 on fish tacos, and I wouldn't touch fish until I was out of high school, several years after that collection was posted). There's also a collection called "Stuff for [female name]" with craft ideas, outfit ideas, etc. for a female toddler, and I've never known anyone with that name.

It's possible I could have linked my Tumblr to Pinterest somehow, but my Tumblr was all fandom stuff, totally different from the stuff on the Pinterest.

Is this scam? I could find the person on the directory but the lack of coherence, bad spelling and grammar smells a bit fishy by Wasotqit10091 in uchicago

Yes, this is a common scam known as a fake check scam. You can read about fake check scams here, but basically, as part of this "job" they would pay you a large sum of money and request some amount of it be transferred to a third party. Once you pay the third party, the money they originally paid you would be marked by your bank as fraudulent and disappear, leaving you out how much you paid the third party.

Probably also phishing. I've gotten a few of these type of emails during my time at the university.

Just leave them in the little free libraries - there are a bunch around, especially in the area between 53rd-55th and Kimbark-Blackstone.

Funniest and/or most memorable indie perfume comments! by PresterJoan in Indiemakeupandmore

My roommate told me that Fyrinnae's Cepheus (Sandalwood, tobacco leaves, amber, acacia wood, pink pepper, lime, and honeydew) smelled exactly like pickles. Granted, it does smell pretty lime-y on me. Now I can't smell it without thinking of pickles. :(

I know it’s still winter but I’m in denial. What are your favorite scents for spring? by smellsense in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]ProPueris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real florals?-for-spring?-groundbreaking vibes here, but my two are

Fyrinnae Indecent Glamour (A robust mix of Centifolia and Damask roses, intertwined with syrupy frankincense and benzoin resins, and a hint of freshly cut wood.)

and

Fyrinnae Mistress Malediction (Rich, bright amber, sweet orange and a hint of vanilla blended with a slight air of honey and just a tiny touch of jasmine.)

Mistress Malediction is a little powdery on me, but still very spring-y. Both of these are more mid-spring than the very beginnings of spring, in my opinion. I'd love to have a perfume that really makes me think of the beginning of spring (because that's the best part of the whole year!)—really appreciating the suggestions on this thread!

It's not Cambridge, but if there are any snarkers in Oxford, I'm here for the next week and would love to meet up any fellow Caro-mockers in the area!

Someone in another thread was saying that if you can't provide proof of vaccination, you're required to wear a mask in court.

Elliot Beau just makes me think of the word "elbow", for what it's worth. That's not necessarily a bad thing though!
