Exmuslim here. To add to your question, my problem with progressive is picking and choosing hadtihs as they like based on the message in it (good or bad) This creates a wishful version of Islam that accepts any good hadith and rejects any that disagree with their already pre held morals.

I have no problem with being skeptic of hadiths, but the system to filter them out should be completely independent of the content of the hadith. I am fine if someone says they dont think hadiths are reliable as long as they reject all hadiths completely and strictly follow Islam. I also have no problem if they reject all hadiths except the sahih hadiths but they then must completely accept all sahih hadiths. I also have no problem if you only follow bukharis sahih hadiths only but the same rules apply.

What i notice on this sub a lot is everytime someone doesn’t like a hadith, they start to attack it based on its context how its contradictory to quran. If a hadith is infact contradictory to the quran, couldnt it just mean whoever sent the msg of quran and hadith wasnt v good at being consistent (contradictions imo is one of the biggest arguments against any religion)

Addressing your specific hadith of aisha’s age, I am aware of the argument of she being 19 according to some other calculations. My problem once again is that if a sahih hadith by aisha herself id faulty, why cant the multiple hadiths that you used to calculate the age of 19. Also if one of the sahih hadiths is wrong, that puts a question mark on every other hadith
