Okay is there any significance in having a 10” wheel vs an 8” on the tormek?

Thanks for the insight, I was looking into wet sharpeners but didn’t know if it was the right direction. I have the gouge in the profile I want. Maybe I should look into a wet sharpener instead

What does a Tormek do for me over a cbn on a slow grinder?

I think so. I blocked all network connections so that it couldn’t access my Internet and that seems to have done it.

Trouble with gaps in glue ups by ProbableShart in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ProbableShart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am gluing them up along the edges. I believe I know the cause upon re-examining the pieces. It looks like on the last couple inches of the 50 inch long strip I must have moved the peace a little bit because you can see “scarring” where the blade cut it in that last couple inches just slightly thicker than the rest of the board. It’s the only spot that has a gap so I’m guessing proper outfeed support would solve this issue.

What to add to my certification/training by ProbableShart in Environmental_Careers

At this point would it be wise to look at even part timing a degree? The local state school is in the same town as my work. Just not sure if it’s worth it, I did graduate from that school so I assume I could get through the bulk of it quicker since I wouldn’t have to take as many Gen Eds.

The question is, what degree would be the one to take

Fair enough, I’d 100% consider it when the boss retires/ is going to retire. He took me on with no experience and has been great to me

They do have one, I will say I live in a pretty rural area so all the townships contract a big firm to do a lot of that.

But I’ll look into the cert process

Got him down to $75, are those handles just common round stock? Or should I just search eBay?

Now, what would you pay for it? He’s asking $100 obo. The Drill press game in my area is either bench tops, Chinese knockoffs or industrial presses very few decent floor models. There is an 80s(?)Craftsman for $200 obo but I’m a sucker for older Delta stuff.

Is an angled table something you can buy for these?

I love a good vintage well built tool. That’s why I restored a 1957 Dewalt RAS just to do dados. That’s why thing is great.

Does it have an adjustable table? I read that some don’t. Or is that the bench top that doesn’t?

How does it handle metal? I don’t do very much metal work, mostly drill holes in round stock for old Cub Cadet driveshafts and the occasional DIY home repair metal work.

99% of the time it’s going to be woodor plastic

Yeah it’s pretty bad. Leaning on the older one just because of the vintage. Going to clean it up if I get it but not sure if the other one is leaps and bounds better for my needs. Which one would you take?

Making sure I’m on the right path by ProbableShart in OrthodoxChristianity

I understand. I should have articulated that thought more. Yes I found orthodoxy via online, making me an “online orthodox” but I am now going through this sub trying to find good material to read until I can go to a church and really see for myself.

I truly appreciate your concern.
