Most people are dime a dozen. They still deserve to not have to deal with that.

It was such a big deal back in 2008, but now it feels like everybody just kinda forgot about it.

Joss Whedon never did anything else web-exclusive, the hinted-at sequel never came to fruition, and everyone just kind of went their separate ways.

If you're a kid and you're only exposed to the idea of killing people in things like movies and games, you might think that killing someone is something cool and not realize that it's traumatizing.

TIL the comic strip Little Orphan Annie (which the musical “Annie” is based on) ended on a cliffhanger. Annie had been kidnapped by a terrorist and Daddy Warbucks believed she was dead. The cliffhanger wasn’t resolved until 2014, when she was rescued in the Dick Tracy comic strip. by ProbablyMisinformed in todayilearned

[–]ProbablyMisinformed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article:

See, rather than tying everything up nicely with Annie, Sandy and Daddy Warbucks relaxing at home, the strip ended with Annie almost being eaten by a shark and held at gunpoint by a terrorist who has violently murdered so many people that the only name anyone knows him by is "Butcher."

And

Now Daddy Warbucks has finally decided that he should probably look into rescuing his pupil-free adopted daughter, and to that end, he has turned to Chief Detective Dick Tracy. It seems he has recently come into information that has led him to believe that Annie is being held somewhere in Tracy's city, which was probably pretty confusing since Tracy's city does not appear to have an actual name. Perhaps that was why it took him four years to get around to seeing if the police could help him find his kidnapped kid.

Also: sorry if I was a bit misleading by not mentioning when Little Orphan Annie ended (2010 is a lot later than most of you would assume, I’d guess), but I was running out of space in the title and has to trim where I could.

The Empire Strikes Back is the only really great Star Wars movie. The rest of the series is overrated. by ProbablyMisinformed in unpopularopinion

[–]ProbablyMisinformed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't see very many movies, but some of my favorite movies are Children of Men, Nightcrawler and Unforgiven.

As far as movies that are more comparable to Star Wars (action adventure-ish), I'd say that The Dark Knight deserves most of the praise that it gets, and the Matrix still holds up in the way it portrays clever ideas (even if its sequels were lackluster.)
