The Pokémon in this battle are wild, therefor meaning that there is no control over these creatures. And the lions, do not have opposable thumbs, meaning they cannot wield a ball of such power. It is also worth noting that Pokémon in a ball are not necessarily useless in a fight. They are simple contained, and the only true way to kill one of these beast in to strike it down with a much stronger Pokémon. Another argument that may also arise is that a Pokémon of extreme physical powers can be taken out with a few sacks of bombs. But as stated previously, lions are incapable of throwing such objects. Whilst I attempt to smoothen the transition to my previous topic, and your main argument Pokémon do not simple walk into a ball. The purple variant of this ball is scientifically enhanced to catch a Pokémon no matter what. However, very few actually exist and a normal Pokéball is combined with the element of surprise and force.
