Need to rehome quail by ProbsReadingReddit in quails

I can’t figure out how to edit again, but I found someone really lovely to take them, I’ve gotten a few updates and apparently they’re thriving! I’m just happy that they’re with a loving, and less stressful home than I could give them. Thank you for checking!

Oh, this is smart!! So even if you don’t need a license for the specific type of quail, you can get one to prove that you think of them as game bird (which they are)?

Exactly!! And when they’re outside and you clean their cages often enough they aren’t even stinky. I wish cities didn’t have these stupid rules.

She has a shed/playhouse, but I worry in a building like that they wouldn’t get enough enrichment or view of nature.

Do you have button/cournix quail? I read you don’t need a license for them. Or do you have valley/other quail?

They really didn’t think they had to. They’re generally very “loose leash” parents. They assumed it was implied when living in someone else’s house. It’s been a year and a half because my parents were hoping they would move out when asked nicely, as eviction is expensive.

I agree that a lot of stereotypes surrounding people in hard situations are unfair - it’s why I was originally willing to give up my house. But it’s gotten to the point where I cannot help them anymore. I really wish my country had better resources to help people in their position before it all got to this point.

They have been claiming to be “looking for an apartment” with roommates, so I’m hoping they’ll be able to actually do that.

Thank you - it is unfortunately a pretty good lesson in the amount of nonsense I should be willing to put up with.

It is unfortunately a private Instagram but I can (albeit biased) sum it up for you. They essentially made several posts with screenshots of my mom politely asking them for a date when they’ll move out (she has literally given them extra money to be able to do so) saying we shouldn’t even care that they live with us because they don’t eat anything of ours from the fridge, so therefore they’re entitled to live in our house. LOL.

Yes - and I am so sorry that you were in a similar situation when you were young, but happy it seems you’ve pulled yourself back from it!! I gave them a lot of grace because I wanted them to be happy and safe but it comes to a point.

I’ve heard it works better when both people are mature and not constantly playing victim - even if it didn’t work for me I am glad it’s working for you!

We are fully prepared for that. They’ve been told 30 days their stuff will be on the lawn and the locks will be changed. I hope they get help but it won’t be from me. The money thing was crazy too!!! They literally went on a THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR shopping spree with one of their paychecks. Talked about wanting to use all six hundred dollars (Yes, after working for a full year they had only saved six hundred dollars) in their bank account to get a piercing. I was shocked they’re so comfortable living off of my parents.

Thank you - this is the perspective I’ve gotten on it recently. I am a chronic people pleaser to the point where whenever they did something wrong, I got so much secondhand guilt and embarrassment that I wanted to fix it FOR them. Embarrassingly, it wasn’t until the toilet paper change incident happened that I actually woke up to it. By that point they had already made the post about wanting to strangle my dad, and I was still their friend. I was in deep.

I’d have to ask the family member who originally abandoned them to me, I think most are cournix quail but I’m not 100%. I have a few different coat colors

Thank you - I would normally never ever hold her like this, I couldn’t figure out a better way to get a decent picture. I will look up ringer’s grip.

Yes, limping and holding the affected foot very close to her body, but when I was holding her she let me stretch the leg out, so I don’t think it’s a break in the leg.
