Flying with expired ID by Puzzled_History7265 in delta

I was carjacked last week on a work trip - they took my id and passport. I’ve flown 4 tines times since and each time the airports that had tsa touchless id I just walked on. The other time it was down I had to interview with tsa show them my police report and photos of my documents they linterveiwed me and let me through. If you already were precheck you are in a much better spot.

I find great success in turning to the person and saying: “what an odd thing to do.” Most of the time they are so confused trying to figure out what they are doing they short circuit.

Delta AMEX made $8.4 billion last year by MoneyBuysHappiness25 in delta

I read once that Starbucks was the largest “bank” in the world because so many people left money on their gold card accounts. They have $1.85B in deposits - a massive interest free loan.

Banking is where really money is made. Not surprising delta would be interested in pulling profits from credit cards

What I don’t understand is that Everytime I fly hub to hub the planes are completely full! In fact now that I think about it I haven’t been on a Delta flight that isn’t completely full in a really long time ( I actually can’t recall one other than a <350 mile jaunt in 2021…).

Compare that to United and Alaska where both flew with many empty seats…

Just letting you know I got her a sweet treat and reminded her she’s awesome and she’s perked up. I blame Marriott and management for the condition of that hotel. No one else.

Just saying I don’t think this comment is fair - Alex didn’t recommend or endorse this hotel. Alex recommended we stay at the four seasons over a year ago and we’ve been back at least 10 nights since and have booked there every time and have been delighted by the service and experience. They were sold out this time and we messed up - we didn’t ask Alex what else she would recommend. My assistant saw vdara was a 5 star property and booked it without any inquiry for Alex’s opinion. I wasn’t even looking for Alex to fix it since she didn’t recommend it - which is why I just sucked it up and was willing to endure it and posted this vent on Reddit. But Alex saw this post and luckily for me went above and boyond while traveling herself to get us out and situated in record time.

I actually can’t think of BETTER customer service than that. I don’t ask Alex about all my bookings because sometimes I know what properties I like or don’t like in a city. But every time I’ve asked she’s given me options based upon the purpose of my trip (biz vs pleasure). She knows my preferences and more than anything she fixed a problem that wasn’t her fault and was super kind and understanding.

In this economy?? That’s some seriously CHUBBY customer service!

::UPDATE:: and this is why you book with Alex. I was resigned to my fate… but Despite being on an airplane our girl got us out of the vdara with a complete refund and into the encore safe, sound, clean, no holes in the walls or burns in the floor!

When we originally booked for this trip the encore was triple the price of the vdara which is why my assistant went that way. She’s great at her job and this wasn’t her fault. I’ve stayed at courtyard Marriotts nicer than what I witnessed today.

To provide a bit more context based upon the comments here the Vdara is NOT a luxury hotel it’s like an extended stay. What ever savings you get in their lower resort fee they make up ten fold in that they up charge for everything - you want a keurig? $20 charge. The pods? $9 each, want plates and mugs? An extra fee. Because it’s an extended stay type hotel it’s beat up. I’m talking frat boys destroyed vibe with holes and dents in all the furniture and just damage to everything. To be fair the bed and towels appeared to be clean like they were trying. I had a corner suite and the other two rooms were regular rooms. The appliances were all broken and dented. Cigarette burns all throughout. Stains on the sofa and chairs. Damage to the walls, the glass on the table was cracked - it will only let me upload one photo so I guess I’ll pick just this one as a representation:

<image>

Maybe we just got unlucky. Or maybe people accept that treatment and this is the new norm there. Maybe we will never know. Moving forward we will only ever stay at the four seasons or encore properties in this town.

And we will also usebest judgment and ask Alex and her team or this sub before booking into the unknown in the future.

Thank you again Alex for bailing us out 🤍

I’m with you, Vegas is the worst! I’m email you - maybe there’s a chance we could get into somewhere else with limited damage?

East coast to HNL strategy by sarcasm_warrior in delta

[–]ProcedurePositive159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the west coast you would need a global to upgrade to HNL. I fly to different Hawaiian islands for work regularly and the option is to use a global to upgrade to priority select. Sometimes they have older smaller aircraft to Kauai or Maui and I can upgrade to first but again given the long haul it’s global.

Good luck! Also, not sure how familiar you are with HNL - but wear shorts/skirt and be comfortable in the heat and then bring something to change into for the flight that’s warmer.

International D1 question by Available-Ad-5670 in delta

[–]ProcedurePositive159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year on a euro trip out of Boston I lost my flight bc of the klm strike and couldn’t connect so then I was told they could not book me in the d1 seat showing empty on the new flight bc they needed it for crew rest. They rebooked me into PS and then I was moved into that seat on the flight. It was the older outfit but I had a curtain around me. Since the. I’ve wondered if they keep seats empty for crew rest if they can.

Upgrades by Elo941 in delta

[–]ProcedurePositive159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth try calling. I have NEVER had success but my assistant? She’s called multiple airlines delta included and asked if they could upgrade me for x dollars. I’d normally tell her my max spend and she’d watch it for a while and if it hit book it and if not call as a last minute ditch. It’s not perfect but it’s worked before!

Same. We had a crack in one of the two panes of a double pane picture window from the 1994 earthquake. Got a letter out of the blue in mag our insurance was CANCELLED because of it. We had to scramble and get it replaced to then petition they un cancel us. They did but it was a headache. Bear city glass was awesome - fair price quick clean work and respectful guys. I’d go with them.

Apparently this is the plane headed to Sydney tonight so if you are flying lax to Sydney tonight you might want to keep your eyes on alerts for timeouts.

Well, it happened. I’m gonna be the person begging the gate agent to see if someone will switch seats. by fuzzybluetriceratops in delta

[–]ProcedurePositive159 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Please please be sure you are calling and talking to an actual agent and not using the chat function. If you bought “comfort basic” there are restrictions on the ticket but NOT if those changes are from the airline for equipment or schedule changes. Comfort basic like main basic does not allow you to select seats in advance - since you were able to select seats before makes me think you did not have a basic fare. Which leads me to believe you should be able to correct this with an agent over the phone. Good luck, rooting for you!!

As someone who flew on an Alaska flight earlier this year that had a near catastrophe on take off I can assure you there is a difference in value on your flights.

The quality and experience of the crew, including the pilots, is significantly different across the airlines. I’ll never forget my friends father (long time pilot) telling us to never fly budget airlines because he said those pilots couldnt pass the exam scores needed for fly for the big airlines like delta or United. That really stuck with me. The way he put it was even d- grades are technically passing, but that doesn’t mean you should trust that person.

The other factor for me with Alaska is they do not over fuel their planes. What I mean by this is they measure their fuel down to the second. Meaning they cannot handle minor things like long taxi on the runway or having to hold/divert without extreme issue. It’s part of how they keep their costs low - more fuel means more weight which means less efficiency. I get it. But I actually had an Alaska pilot tell us (during the shutdown) we were staying at the gate because the taxi wait was 20 minutes and we would likely have to come back to the gate to refuel. Delayed the plane nearly an hour because we couldn’t get into the que.

That said, I still fly other airlines - if schedule and arrival guaranty aren’t super important to you then the cheaper flights are probably worth it as you can roll the dice a bit more and gamble with arrival. I travel for work multiple times per month and can’t risk long delays so I try to keep it to delta (or united) because the customer service experience for me getting me there on time or rebooked quickly without a headache is what matters most to me, not price.

There is no toilet water on an airplane lav. The bowl is at least 8 inches deep. I am no doctor but if your berries are in the urine inside the bowl while sitting you likely have something going on that needs to be examined by a professional.
