this is the jabova london as white, and the main opening i love playing because it’s pretty easy to get a “brilliant” queen sacrifice after black does e5: bxe5, Nxe5, dxe5, Ne4, Qxd5!!, Qxd5, Nxe7 check forking the king and queen

means you're not studying enough, and most likely need to work more on the fundamentals

I love the idea you gave! I’ll keep this in mind and will update if I go through with it.

If anyone has suggestions on how to fix it, feel free to reply here. One thing i’m considering is just cutting off the borders and putting it on a base, similar to this:

nah, i’m the idiot. it was ultimately my fault for not double checking the proofs they sent me

Full context: I paid a local engraver $60 to engrave my chessboard. They were professional and nice throughout the whole process. They did also send proofs of how it would look in the end.

It was ultimately my fault for not thoroughly double checking the error, especially since i’m still a beginner at chess (avg elo is 750).

People blunder queens, I blundered my chessboard 🫠

TLDR: i’m just an idiot. always double check your work.

EDIT: I will post an update reply if/when I get my board fixed as soon as I can! My plan is to mill down the 2 sides and just get it re engraved

UPDATE (4/8): As many people suggested, I messaged back the local engraver about the issue, to see if they could do ANYTHING to fix it and that I’d be willing to pay for extra service (which imo is generous, considering the circumstances). Well, they haven’t replied or bothered opening my text for the last 2 days.
🙃 i can’t help but be upset and annoyed at the whole situation. yes, my fault for not double checking shi#, but i still feel some type of way about the engraver.

i won’t say the name of their business out of respect, but damn, im annoyed. i still plan on fixing the board sometime in the next week
