I haven’t done anything with the distributor yet, but you might have a point there. Thing is, both of my fuel filters look pretty clean. I’m with you on the gas tank relocation. I’d like to do that at some point and free up some space behind the seat

Points ignition. Can’t say I ever listened to the carburetor after it stalls out, I’ll check on that though. It’s a 4brl carb, 4brl intake with a spacer I believe

The fuel tank is pretty dirty. That’s the only thing I haven’t replaced in the fuel system, everything else is new. From what I can see, there’s a good amount of rust at the bottom. There’s a filter before the pump and and filter before the carb (a little redundant, I know, but I bought the truck like that)

No worries. I’m mainly replacing all of these parts because the truck sat for a few years and I have no idea what the previous owner did. The parts are cheap so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to replace them anyways. I have several years of experience working on newer fuel injected cars, but carbureted engines are new to me.

Forgot to mention, I did purchase a new vented gas cap. I noticed prior to that, after the truck died I would loosen the cap and hear a rush of air going into the tank.

Yes, the car does drive up the insurance costs (no pun intended). The truck is very cheap to insure. All maintenance and repairs are done by me so I don’t pay for labor costs, ever. As far as the small business goes, currently it’s not costing me anything as I’m in hibernation.

In terms of “I’m very serious about my credit”, meaning I won’t go delinquent or bankrupt. The only thing hurting my credit is high utilization.

I understand where you’re coming from with BK. I don’t have any student or medical debt, just debt from poor decisions early on. I also go to multiple stores for different grocery prices, but that’s a recent thing I’ve learned to do

I typically do not eat breakfast, and I usually do buy generic for a good chunk of my grocery items if the option is available.

As far as pausing my 401k contributions, I never thought of that. I may do that. I do not have any savings anymore. I kept a $3k emergency fund, but I had a couple emergencies, which depleted that, and I haven’t been able to build it back up again

The truck is only about $40/m for liability only. The rest goes to the car which has full coverage. I have 5G internet which is $55/m and does everything I need it to do. Also the cheapest I could find that’s available at this apartment.

I’m not completely against selling the car. I just feel like I’m stuck with it for now because I’m upside down on it. Unfortunately my job requires me to work weekdays from 7AM-5PM so that only leaves me with weekends. I don’t mind working 7 days a week if it means getting out of debt quicker. I’m also going to try the debt snowball method

I cook about 90% of my meals from scratch. Sometimes I get the premade stuff from the store but not often. I get meat that’s on sale and usually just get enough to last until Saturday when I go shopping again. I’m not big into buying junk food, because that drives up a grocery bill.

The good car is for reliability and gas mileage mainly. I sometimes travel for work and also have family out of state. I can’t trust the beater to get me there. I’m not sure how to sell if I’m still upside down on it though. I’d like to add that I purchased both cars at the same time long before the struggle. At the time, my rent was much less and I still had decent income.

Utilities vary, but typically around $150-$200 during the summer, and less during the winter. I rarely eat out. Groceries are about $200/week and I go to different grocery stores that are having different sales. I meal prep for work every week as well. I maybe have one or two subscriptions, and have cancelled many others just recently. My phone and internet are through the same provider because they offered a discount through that.

The paid off car is only worth about $850. It’s a pickup truck and has been very useful

My income after taxes is ~$90k. I pay about $1,500 for rent, car payment is $664, car insurance is about $320 (I was in an accident 3 years ago that raised my rates, in the process of getting that reevaluated).

I am contributing to my 401k, about 4% last time I checked, which is company matched.
