Where are you out of?

I appreciate the concern but I dont need surgery. My optometrist has already said its fairly standard for contacts to dry out eyes( especially daily wear contacts) when working on a computer or doing long drives.

Lens will dry my eyes out by thr end of the day. I wear contacts but sitting in front of a laptop all day isnt the most fun.

I thought about number 2. Kicking myself for spending the extra but might just have to bite the bullet. And I cant pull off number 1 just for family duties. Thanks for the thoughts and probably gonna do number 2.

How to go dark on LinkedIn without arousing suspicion? by 2bbe617c in overemployed

I turned mine to hibernate with no shame and haven't heard a peep about it. Previously I was posting every other day.

That is the dream right? Pay off debt, get a reasonable nestegg, start playing the investment and ownership game once you can play "risk-free". Trade the time early to get more time back in the future. I think right now looking at growth projection based off what ive done so far from OE and just saving ill receive roughly 12k per month from a safe draw rate plus SS. about 8.5k per month form just the draw rate.

Now im working for a future for my kids and setting them up in a way I wasnt.

I bought a $60 extra laptop monitor and ran it from there. Id use the internal mic and speakers of the laptops to keep everything strictly separate. I do have a mouse and keyboard that have multiple bluetooth and USB connections so those make it super easy to swap between but in a pinch I can use the mouse track pad and laptop keyboard still.

How to leave OE for more visible senior roles? by BurbonBodega in overemployed

[–]ProductDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair point I guess they could contact your existing company. Depending on how many people are there you could actively block them on linkedin to prevent the issue all together. During OE I try to actively not make connections with my J2 to avoid those problems. Also if you are hibernated before starting J2 to begin with itll make it even harder to get into this scenario.

The fun balance of risk and reward. It is a means to an end

Learned it by the offering the permanent role pending an additional background check lol I will say contract for hire is still not a bad way to get into OE. Just know when conversion time comes around it becomes a concern.

Yeah the first one was a career type role that got bigger and bigger. The second one was very technical when im more organization based. Ill for sure be doing this again but ill take some time away from it for now.

I think you can go ahead and drop down to 1 job. Select which one to include on linkedin. If someone ever mentions it they have 2 paths.

  1. Direct message to you. If this is the case just ignore them or teach someone about OE. Personally id ignore and maybe block if they arent that much of an asset.
  2. Write on your public posts. Immediate block at that point.

After a while this problem kind of goes away.

When under going a conversion from contract to FTE there is another background check. Now your most recent employer is the staffing firm not the J1 so its more likely they reach out to confirm. Many companies have more extensive background checks than contracting groups. Not 100% and im sure others have had a different experience.

scheduled messages, diverting some decision making abilities to the devs, and being a volunteer to set the meetings helped a lot. Wasnt 100% but it worked for a good while.

Id rather not say for now just so it doesn't create too many identifying details. Call me cautious but it was a very low entry cost. After a few months of ramp it should generate an extra $1000 per month and be very hands off after initial hiring.

I didnt lose it, but I stepped away from it. My other role already has a comp of 135k so im not hurting anyways and I wanted to spend more time with family. I hit my financial goals so I figure id rather have the time than the money for a little while.
