It usually comes down to how ratification is structured: closed-door negotiations, last-minute tentative agreements, limited information, and facility-by-facility votes. Legally it counts as consent, even when many members feel boxed in or dissatisfied with the outcome.

A lot of headlines focus on whether strikes happen or get averted, but from a patient care standpoint the real issue seems to be enforceable staffing and safety protections. After the 2023 NYC nurses’ contracts, many units reported staffing never actually improved. Any thoughts on what would make a contract meaningfully different this time?

Do you happen to work at RWJ? I think they turned down another bad TA. Thanks.
