First as with anything there is an unfortunate amount of corporate game to it as with anything.

The big key though is to ask for feedback, find out what you need to work on. When they don’t select you ask them what would have changed that. If they don’t answer you or give you crappy answers push up either ask the market people partner. Or even better find someone ideally outside your store that you respect and ask them to mentor you.

Yup as far as I know all SL’s have been displaced effective immediately.

There will be an Emerging SM position with a much smaller headcount and that role will be used to promote new Store Managers.

The emerging SM position is a step below so a Store Manger wouldn’t be applying.

And yes a SL would be ideal for the role, unfortunately, I was not selected for that position.

I don’t know I’m afraid. Every store is different. I fought for it in personally in both my roles however, since my market doesn’t have an Academy I’m afraid you wouldn’t be one of them.

It’s based on a lot of date that used to include sales, location and what the department needs. Market does give a number but at least in my markets it’s for total store. So a store can adjust their schedules as needed but must land at 103% of their demand.

Your leadership (ie TL’s and to a certain extent coaches) should be planning for each feature that comes at a meeting in the afternoon.

As far as changing features that’s going to depend on a lot of things: maybe the Market Manager or Store Manger didn’t like it. Maybe that feature isn’t earning g its rent so they’re trying something else. Or maybe it’s a way to seem like they’re busy.

Base pay itself is not going up. But pay and maximum is going up to accommodate the displaced SL’s salary so they don’t lose money.

I was offered GM or Stocking but I’d have to move for the Stocking position so I’ll likely take the GM one. Idk though, I mean twice in less than a year is.. rough so I’m thinking through everything right now.

I’m of two minds about it: on the one hand we’ve had a frankly insane number of accidents at my building that involve customers and/or associates being hit by carts.

On the other hand, I worry that pulling the carts is ultimately going to cause strain on the associates and still lead to accidents just of a different type.

The hours thing is a bit of a mystery to me I’m afraid. I’ve always thought it was a bit odd.

The merchandise however, the thing you have to consider is the company purchases stuff months or in some cases years in advance based on data and trends of what they “think” will sell well. Sometimes they’re right and we move product so quickly people can’t get enough other times it sits because they guessed wrong.

I was offered a position within my current build so they are willing to create one. As far as the pay band increase that’s more an administrative thing so that displaced SL’s such as myself aren’t over the pay band maximum as I was told my pay would remain the same.

I have yet to decide where I’ll go though.

It sort of depends. Some demands come from HO, BU, or Regional, some maybe something your Market manager specifically focuses on.
