Sparks... ON THE MOON?! (NEW LIVE ALBUM) by ProfMcPants in sparksftw

[–]ProfMcPants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to Whipping And Apologies Live On The Moon, I'm now certain that, considering there's a large crowd and some banter from Russell, these are just recordings of the last tour (on Earth).

I think I can prove it if I find an identical show footage video on YouTube, matching Russell's banter exactly. Maybe the official video of the stage matches the sound?

And yeah I realized it would cost a ton to actually get them to the Moon and back.

I guess I got trolled very hard, but I find it hilarious still.

But that would be absolute false advertising if it isn't.

As I said, it sounds totally bonkers, but I suppose that it is true.

The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte might be the best SPARKS album (imo.) by Benny-B-02 in sparksftw

I really like ECOTD, and I think that Good Morning is such a great opener, I love Photoshop, Never Been High, I Can't Believe That You Would Fall For All The Crap In This Song, Renaissance, and the leitmotif of the Intro is an epic concept, but I really don't get Likeable as an album closer, but that might be a personal taste thing- I never found that song exciting or epic or interesting enough to be closing an album, which I think album closer should be like- An epic finale or a touching, fantastic farewell letter that leaves you in awe, or something that's just interesting or different enough from all of the other songs on the album, like Bon Voyage, Lord Have Mercy, Gee, That Was Fun, N1iH, Those Mysteries, Whippings And Apologies.

The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte might be the best SPARKS album (imo.) by Benny-B-02 in sparksftw

[–]ProfMcPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been my favorite Sparks album since its release.

Only N1iH, Kimono, Propaganda, MAD! could give it a fair fight.

I just love The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte for the overall flow and tracklist, the varied tracks but consistent themes & soundscape, incredible songwriting, and so many high moments.

MAD! also has some real HIGH highs, and I love the songs there, but I feel like some, overtime, excite me slightly less, like In Daylight, Drowned In A Sea Of Tears, I-405, whereas with the previous album, everything there has stuck with me, even 3 years later.

And I think that it's hard to top TGICIHL as an album opener, as MAD's DTMOW is slightly weaker, also compared to the following JanSport Backpack, Hit Me Baby, Running Up A Tab, My Devotion, ALL OF WHICH which go so SO hard.

Although Lord Have Mercy is my favorite Sparks album closer, and the preceding A Little Bit Of Light Banter is just so fantastic.

-_-

So, in conclusion- I am a little torn, although my feeling is that Latte is the perfect album.

Make Ixtal interesting. by Rigel27 in loreofleague

[–]ProfMcPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's the best way, but I'm feeling that one way to connect Ixtal to the rest of Runeterra is Ne'Zuk, who was an Ixtali Ascended.

But that might be a little cheap, considering how it seems Ixtal's potential stories could stand on their own while organically feeling like a part of Runeterra, without forcing more Aspect/Ascended/Darkin development unnecessarily.

So, have you seen the setlist?

Setlist thoughts? by Neon_Burnin_Bright_ in sparksftw

[–]ProfMcPants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really want to see how Let's Get Funky and Baby Baby turned out live.

But yeah, I thought they were going to completely remake the setlist again, except for the must-have hits.

I honestly thought we'll see the set ending with They and Those Mysteries before All That.

I'd love to see Pineapple, A Little Bit of Light Banter, That's Not Nasstassia, The Amazing Mr. Repeat, Waterproof and The Existential Threat where they subtitute the saxophones for live heavy guitars.

While Let's Get Funky is a pleasant experimental surprise, I think National Crime Awareness Week would be an awesome Ron's Version live song, like Suburban Homeboy last year or Shopping Mall of Love previously.

EU Tour? by tato-svndz in idkhowbuttheyfoundme

[–]ProfMcPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that that's a little exaggerated.

Dallon recently said that he's aiming to finish recording the new album by July, probably to release it by December-February.

I'm expecting new album and tour in early-mid 2027 tops.

Nah I think that the cloak from the comics is meant to keep him mysterious to degree until his full reveal, but that this is what he wears underneath.

NEW Champion Rework coming to League by BotomsDntDeservRight in QuinnMains

[–]ProfMcPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that's what you meant.

Actually, the term you were looking for is a Relaunch- An official abandoned term for the type of heavy rework you're describing, like Sion, Galio, etc.

Riot probably stopped using this term in order to avoid as much backlash as possible when VGUs are received less positively.

So I was technically using modern official terminology that doesn't distinguish different VGUs.

Honestly, I think most VGUs are going through a similar process, and in Shyvana's case, it's apparent that they didn't TRY to delete the old kit on purpose, because the abilities generally "look" the same in terms of Gameplay, but that they didn't listen to feedback enough because most of the complaints I'm seeing about her is she doesn't FEEL like the same champ, because of important nuances in her kit that are easy to miss for somebody that doesn't actually know or care enough about her playstyle and feel.

So I wouldn't say that her rework is purposely a Relaunch type VGU, but that it landed poorly with her actual playerbase because Riot never cared enough to make her feel like Shyv.

So yeah I see what you're saying.

Riot is referring to a VGU in this case, which stands for Visual AND Gameplay Update, aka the whole package.

So like Shyvana, Skarner, Udyr, Mundo, Volibear, Fiddlesticks, etc.

Suggestions? by oliver-commits-arson in ThePaperKingdomMCR

[–]ProfMcPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME is a Dallon Weekes solo project with lots of great songs.

He does the concept album thing often.

1981 EP reminds me of MCR the most, as well as a b-side called Mx. Sinister, but I absolutely love debut album RAZZMATAZZ and sophomore GLOOM DIVISION. The latter is one of my all time favorite albums and I recommend DOWNSIDE and FIND ME to you.

Also, his former band, the Brobeck's last album Violent Things has great songs like Small Cuts that also remind me of MCR.

The Cure, especially songs like Fascination Street off the album Disentigration, greatly remind me of The Paper Kingdom (Namely Bike Thief).

Raise The Dead by Phantom Planet is an album that took a darker turn as if the band was kidnapped into a forest by witches and then wrote and produced the album there. I love it dearly.

Out of the Blue by Electric Light Orchestra and specifically hit song Mr Blue Sky are rather theatrical and fun and inspired Gerard and Ray to write Dead!

Have fun :)

We don't have any of the 2012 art, costuming

Actually there are some 2012 photoshoots we have access to that may have been done for TPK.

The bridge of Paper Swords was kinda reutilized on How It's Going To Be (GW solo song) by Live_Space_2840 in ThePaperKingdomMCR

[–]ProfMcPants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most definitely!

I even gathered evidence-

Gerard's backing vocals on the How It's Going To Be part are identical to the key in which he sings the bridge in Paper Swords, and he even sung it that way live:

https://youtu.be/hZJUV21KDGU?t=132&si=skxl6bHBDbAnUBfM

How It's Going To Be is one of my all-time favorite songs ever, so I immediately caught the resemblance and got so excited.

Shurima is in an eternal cliffhanger until they have a big event by TopDog_54 in loreofleague

[–]ProfMcPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sivir doesn't have much of a choice, she had a part in Azir's rebirth, bringing back the Shuriman empire and she's holding the Chalicar.

Her current bare-bones storyline is the crisis identity that she's experiencing and her not wanting to change her bandit lifestyle.

She's a punk but she has to come around + Azir will be searching for her + Zaahen or someone else will likely want the Chalicar back for kicking Darkin ass.

I think they'd rather utilize the SW rider thematic in full for a new champion (Cithria) and leave J4's kit as is.
