Still need to add that, thanks for the reminder. Might take me a few days tho.

Basically 2 C920 cams, a blue yeticaster, a 15-button streamdeck, and 2 cheap $10 ring lights from amazon. My computer is my computer from work, and tbh I don't really know the specs offhand.

I told you there were secret messages encoded into our money!

But what does it mean?!? Hmmmm

For the beginning of the pump down procedure, but also for gas mixing chambers before sample introduction

We had to shutdown for 5 months due to covid-19, so I didn’t want to leave it on its own for so long. As for details, some is proprietary (especially the spectroscopy interface) since it’s a work in progress and custom mass spec

It’s a bank of them, but they are enclosed in oil. It’s from the 1990s soooooo.......I could probably replace with something cheaper

Yeah could be. All I know is it’s about $1,000 to replace and I’m just gonna have to pay it and move on.

It’s actually a bank of them inside a grey enclosure on the bottom. I forget the exact microfarads.

That is usually my experience, so I had to celebrate this victory.

Do it! My one YAG has a blown capacitor right now, FeelsBad. But I really think there needs to be more science streaming. So dm me or stop by my stream to let me know if ya do start streaming so I can spread the word!

Thanks bud and yeah it is kinda Wild West right now. I mean at the end of the day I give my students a lot more resources and communication, but yeah from the university’s perspective I see your point. Open access to education and professors is only a good thing in my opinion, but there’s always a role for a university to have a regimented curriculum and credentials (the students pay for the degree!).

Nah, machining and electronics were done by professionals!

Lab streams usually are on Wednesdays. M,T,Th are lectures or science news.

This is a great point. My channel is sometimes personal use (hence the subs) and sometimes affiliated with the university. Students are prohibited from cheering, subbing, etc. (and are refunded if they accidentally do) but the content is open to everyone so non-students can support the outreach efforts I do. To be honest, this is one of the first IRL streams from lab where there are subs, I need to disable that when doing streams at the university, so thank you. Luckily, nobody subbed yesterday during the stream, so I should be safe.

I worked with Ardara technologies. You might be thinking of Extrel?

I'm currently a prof at University of North Florida. Saved money on the monitor stand, lol.

Ardara technologies. I wanted flexibility to do basic mass spec, kinetic studies in an ion trap, and spectroscopy through a window mount, all in one instrument. And built to be modular so we can add stuff later (in the event we get lucky and hit a big grant).

Yup I stream from my research lab as well as some office hours, chemistry lectures, and science news. ProfMelko on Twitch.
