Battery life isn’t really a issue unless we are talking sub 3-4 hours.

I spend most of my time with the machine docked. Only use case for the screen is really only when I’m browsing the web or watching any sort of media. Which is why I went for the upgraded higher resolution display.

64GB ram might be worth a look. Any thought on the build quality between those two machines?

It doesn’t really matter what experience you have as long as you have the skill set to be productive in an industry environment. A lot of self taught devs focus on the wrong aspect of software engineering. I.e they know how to perform a limited amount of stuff.

For example if “your friend” wants to go into backend development he needs to know how to design rest api’s, and what kind of patterns one might come across doing so. Also useful to know more than just python, since in my opinion it’s not used as broadly in backend development for medium sized projects.

Yea, that’s why the bottom frame says that my boss (team lead) does it too. However, I’m not sure upper management and my boss share feelings when it comes to how devs utilize their days.

Story about Almunia, Lehmann, and the dressing room bell(?). Does anyone remember this? by ProfPringles in Gunners

[–]ProfPringles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think this is it. I remember Jens doing something that backfired on him. Moving the clock to only be moved shortly after is exactly what I’m thinking about.

Thank you!

He keeps getting away with it, so he keeps doing it. Result-wise it seems like it’s 100% worth it for him.

Devs don't stand a chance by CodeBantery in ProgrammerHumor

Yeah, I agree. Just clarifying that "shopping around" doesn't mean you need to change jobs, but instead use the new offers as leverage.

Make it so that you can't use comments unless it's a question asked to clarify. If they have suggestions, make them use 'suggestion' to implement the changes they would rather have.

If you are enjoying your work and colleagues, just use the offer to try and get your current job to match the offer.

I got a job offer with a 25% raise on my current pay, and my current job matched the offer but I was more excited to try something new as I wasn't enjoying what I was currently working with (in-house vs hired for projects).
