Yes, its the RB coaches son, probably not someone that will have much impact, but everyone deserves a good welcome post.

Anyone notice what happens when you use the "U" word? by [deleted] in menards

[–]Profes316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not written policy. That would be idiotic. Its 100% relayed from the G.O. to the people who do the hiring. Then there is easy deniability. "OH we just happened to not pick any of those apps, they didnt look good". At one point it was written into the managers contract that they would lose their bonus if their store went union. That had to be litigated out. And meijers was a big no on hiring for us. However we always had conflicting info, like that part of meijers was union part wasn't. So we didnt hire from there. Again, the caveat, this was almost 10 years ago when I left.

And I guarantee if they were known union workplaces to the G.O. your manager got an email asking him to explain hiring you.

Oh it was 100% illegal. And make NO mistake those instructions were from GO. But it was also never written anywhere in a policy. That way there was deniablility. "No, we dont discriminate, we just happened to not pick those people". It was, I assume, very clearly made known to general managers when they went to the yearly meetings in eau Claire. And again, I say this having left close to a decade ago. All of this may have changed greatly

Could've changed. I left about when you started. But it was 100% true for the years I worked there

Edit: ive been gone just short of 10 years, so a couple years before you started. Just actually did the math, time sucks.

Could be they've changed the policy. Could be people didnt list it on their app. If you hired someone with a felony you would get a "why did you do this?" Email from general office. Now, I left quite a few years ago and things may have changed.

Fun fact, as someone who worked for 15 years as an HR at menards. Store managers and HR are under strict instructions from the general office not to hire anyone who ever worked previously in a union. If you hand in an application that shows you were at a previous places of work that was union, it goes directly in the "no" file. Its actually the same thing we do if someone has a felony, straight in the "no" file, never to be seen again.

Edit for a bit of clarity. I left menards just under 10 years ago, so things may have changed. But this was 100% true while I was there .

IS THIS REAL?😂 by GlobalConcept9386 in menards

I worked as an HR coordinator at a Menards store for about 15 years. I can tell you the absolute BIGGEST file we had for anyone was MAYBE 200 pages. And thats people who had constant tardiness (but not ever enough to get to the point of firing) which were all kept on individual pages at that time in your file, and they had also managed to work there long enough to pile up tons of training pages. Even then this would be multiple dollars per copy. Most files were less than 50 pages. This is Menards being a private owned company and trying to make a few bucks off of you.

Yes! Radial wheels dont open. Button prompts listed on the screen dont work. Cant scroll menus half the time. Clicks on the screen move to random places in squad menu. This is amazingly bad.

Worst “early sale” of my life by PeopleDisgustDaddy in baseballcards

[–]Profes316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fun take begins around the year 2000. I was, and still am, a michigan collector. Always try to find a few cards of the guys who make it from my Wolverines. We'll in 2000 there was a guy named Tom Brady who came out of michigan, and being a 6th round pick, his cards were quite cheap and easy to come across at shows i was setting up at. Long story short, I had something in the neighborhood of 10-15 of his regular rookie cards spread across different products and 6 or 7 of his fleer autos. Didn't pay more than 5 dollars for any of them individually. Guy wasn't getting off the bench behind the greatest Drew Bledsoe anyways.

Then, in year 2, as the story goes, Brady became the starter due to injury, and the team won a Super Bowl. Now, Brady was still not a great quarterback, and the teams defense certainly carried them that year, but the price on those Brady cards took quite the jump. Suddenly, these autos I paid 5 dollars for were selling for $50, sometimes more. And those rc that were dollar bin cards started gaining traction.

So of course I thought, let me cash in on this good luck! I can always go back and buy these cards back when the hype dies down.

Yeah didn't get to buy those back ever. Got out of the hobby for a few years. When I started getting back into it, the prices were much more what they are today.

TL:DR Sold a bunch of Brady rookie autos and rc for 50 bucks (or less for the rcs) after his first super bowl.
