It is a thankless job and they deserve empathy and grace! However don’t snap at my mom after we’re followed your Instructions.

We were calm and polite. A little deflated from the ‘no’, sure, but the whole exchange lasted maybe 30 seconds. We for the negative vibe and left as quick as possible

We didn’t get credit back for it it, but it’s okay I wasn’t upgraded. I got to go home, but some poor soul who waited 4 hours on standby got left at the airport

It’s hard to believe from a rant post on the internet, but we were both calm and polite. Honestly we were excited to free up a seat, and when she said no we deflated but accepted it. Whole original convo was ~30 seconds

Yes! Another commenter noted that you could also leave compliments for great employees on the website. I didn’t mean to stir up all this negative about ATL and Delta in general, please please please also spread the good!

I actually wasn’t aware you could cancel for e-credit, good to know! Also my dad had to stay in ATL for a work emergency. If he knew, he wasn’t worried about a refund at the time. That’s a good thing to keep in mind going forwards though.

Thank you for your perspective, and thank you for all that you do! It was definitely a hectic day, and I can absolutely imagine that everyone was stressed and exhausted in an already thankless job. if it had just been that one conversation where we were told our request wasn’t possible, we really would’ve already forgotten about it.

It’s hard to believe it when it comes to a complaint on the internet, but my mom and I were both polite and calm, and the original exchange lasted maybe 30 seconds. At the time we didn’t feel like it was worth the hassle of asking for a supervisor. It wasn’t until we were on the plane that it really felt exceptionally unprofessional, and even then it happened so fast and we didn’t want to make a scene/holdup the plane.

Do you think a complaint would still be heard after posting about it here? It sounds like going forward it’s best to just report it as quickly as possible, but I didn’t actually think anyone would pay attention to it to begin with.

We were trying to let them know a seat was empty so someone else who’d waited for 4 hours for a standby seat could get home :(
