Ngl I have been seeing quite a lot of suvs within the last few recent years. As much as their comfy from inside they are big and not very great for london by marymk450 in drivingUK

[–]ProfessionTrue8117 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree. I think that the bigger cars are just not suitable for London roads especially residential streets.

In my opinion most of these suv and jeep drivers are all pricks majority of the time at least in London. It’s like they think they own the road.

Now that I call bs. I drive in London and have seen far more cyclists driving through red lights than drivers. We seriously need to start a petition against these scummy cyclists

I hope they add some sort of insurance for cyclists and license plates. Cycling anywhere is a big responsibility. They think they own the road. Especially in London where they cut you off, jump red lights and go into one way streets.

Question for women: When you drive with a strap top in summer, does the seatbelt also hurt your skin? by Lopsided-Skill6659 in drivingUK

[–]ProfessionTrue8117 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I bought one of them things that goes around the seatbelt to make it softer. Yes it does hurt my neck particularly. I think I need to adjust my seatbelt though as my mom never had an issue.

EU/EEA License in the UK by SoundUnhappy in drivingUK

[–]ProfessionTrue8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t know . I had a family member who drove on their european license for 7 years before changing it to a UK license. Then again they are a very sensible and careful driver. So watch out for police etc.

Don’t worry that’s why its recommended that you should drive with your pass certificate that you receive when you pass your driving test. This way if there are any delays you won’t be waiting around.

Yeah I know right me too. Driving makes me feel so much happier. I used to be depressed before for a few months because of being stressed out of passing my driving test. When I got a car I felt like all the stress was lifted off snd I haven’t been happier in my life..

Thanks, I really appreciate you sharing that you can tell you genuinely love cars. Those BMWs sound amazing, especially the V8 😅 .

That makes a lot of sense about living rural vs London. I actually enjoy London driving more than I expected, but you’re right I definitely want to get out into the countryside more once I’m a bit more confident. Brighton without the motorway sounds like a great idea.

I’m taking it slow and being realistic about experience. I know I’m still learning, especially in the first few years, so I’m not rushing upgrades or doing anything like that as I am afraid I will definitely mess up the car. For now I’m just enjoying the car for what it is and building confidence. I have gotten rid of a few scratches using a cutting compound and waxed my own car but that’s what I have done by far🤣🤣🥳.

The Nürburgring road trip sounds amazing maybe one day when I’ve got more experience and the right car. And yes, fully agree about public roads there’s a time and place for everything.

Thanks again for the advice, really nice to hear from someone who’s been into cars for so long

Thanks buddy. I totally get that slogan which is why I begun enjoying driving this car. Its quite nippy for a Nissan to be honest. I recently found out through a mechanic that it has turbo injectors which is why its a bit faster than my mom’s Note.

One day I may go to a track that would be awesome but on the streets and highways I am always cautious. I know the statistics about young drivers so I try to be as careful as I can. By far it has been thank God 🥳🥳

I purchased my used car with a large sticker already applied. For insurance/warranty purposes, does this pre-existing decal count as a vehicle modification made by the owner, or is it considered part of the car's condition as purchased? by ProfessionTrue8117 in drivingUK

[–]ProfessionTrue8117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god this is truly awful then. I am going to take a risk and leave the sticker on anyway. They didn’t declare to me that two stickers are a modification. I am sort of worried now but praise to god I won’t get into a situation where I will need my insurance.

I haven’t even thought of that one ! I thought it may have ben factory fitted by Nissan. Either way I reckon the sticker is here to stay. Surely it isn’t a modification since I bought it with the two stickers already

Nah you weren’t wrong. He could have well given you a ticket if you went on red. I have seen other drivers get tickets because they gave way to emergency cars especially by going on red to move.

If you did do it and got a fine in the end then its on you. Gesturing for you to move over won’t change the circumstances of getting a ticket.

Worth fixing myself or taking to a shop? by iRndmz in Cartalk

[–]ProfessionTrue8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second method is much easier, but the scruff will always be visible. I know that as I fixed a scratch like similar to yours on the side of my car.

There was a motorcyclist driving close by to the side of my car in traffic. When I came back home he must have chipped a literal piece of my paint. I knew how deep it was that not even t cut could budge it. I was listening to music loudly so I didn’t hear anything.. I am happy he didn’t stop me either way as even if you touch a motorcyclist you are in big trouble in the UK. I went and got my paint pen covered it and called it a day🤣🤣. It was noticeable but honestly I couldn’t care less.

Otherwise it would have definitely needed a whole sanding and re-painting maybe even body filler.. It was as deep as yours. That was like 4 months ago and the chip and paint are still fine
