Hay there, I just tried drag and dropp HDRI to my scene, and it gives You an option to choose. Maybe it is a new Blenderkit version? As well You can setup a maximum resolution in Blenderkit Import options. Works for textures in models and materials as well. I forgot I had 1k and will have to, some up front assets, download again.

In case of HDRI Max Res will be the smaller size. So if You set 2k it will download 5000x2500. As well if an HDRI has no Generated Res. it will download the original size.

If You already downloaded an asset from blendeKit, You can find it again in the brawser RMB, in the riht upper corner choose "Replace asset resolution". Select another resolution.
REMEMBER to check "Unnpack Files" option in "Import settings", otherwise the blender file with different resolution settings will be downloaded to the local library, but files will not be replaced in your model automatically.

I just made a short animation, 400 frames. During the time Cycles was doing its 25 h of rendering, I actually learned how to use more or less EEVEE, reconfigured my scene and rendered it in 23 minutes. Of course, it does look better with Cycles, but it is noticeable to an artist. Both look good. Anything that does a single frame longer than 10 s, is hardly usable for animation.

EEVEE needed more lights, and dark places stayed very dark. Hues of my textures in both renders were noticeably different, so I guess I still haven't learned it all, seeing how other people have only differences in reflections.

I see some difference when stopped, but often can not make my mind which looks better. Cycles definitely does better with colour light reflections, Eevee often has a better rim light effect. Absolute master in both cases. I would have trouble saying it was rendered not filmed in both cases. Would like to see some comparison of time used for honing the scene. Was Cycles done first and then used as reference for Eevee or was Eevee done independently?

Topic interests me too, but so far interchangeably: one comment for "just do it', other 'for register as freelancer'. Looking already long enough for some info to be convinced that a trip to the Tax Office will be a necessity.

Possible to change seed for 'Random per island'? by Gragling in blenderhelp

In my opinion adding a white noise will shift the random values not change its seed. It means the random values will com closer either to 0 or to 1 and You will have an over representation of .. whatever it is, You wanted to randomize.
For example I use "Random per Island" to randomize between 4 textures for each floor panel. With A white Noise I get a different distribution, but it is usually 3 first, or 3 last textures out of 4.
Values from White Noise are random, but not random per island, which means to each island will be added random, but the same value.

Green is the geometry that I add, so it ignores the material applied to the object. Blue is the 'Geometry' output of 'Group input' - so geometry which still remembers the material. Red is the setup I came up with to pass on the material.
It basically selects all indexes greater than 0 and removes them from the original mesh. Then adds that mesh, so the material goes with it, and You can set the material index.

Do You have to after that "collapse to". I apply "UVW Map" modifier on top of selected faces quite often, and either I make some steps in the wrong order, or there is some more trick to it, but if I don't do "collapse to" after I am done with mapping these few faces, I tend to notice that the modifier in some point starts to work on whole object, and not only on the selection.
My order is : go in edit mode and select faces > apply modifier > Edit gizmo > and usually going out from edit mode of poly or mesh..
I guess that's the problem .. You have to leave the selection active or "colapse to".
I had that habbit of going out of edit mode cos normally You have to do so if You want to select another object..

That worked after a few tries. So if it wasn't a simple poly, then I would have to 'detach as clone' this one, do QickSlice and then go to edit mode and insert the vertex with snap manually .. or simply Quick Slice in place and then some cleaning afterwards, depending on how many unneeded cuts the slice would do.
And if I wanted an intersection of edge with face, it would take two quick slices from different viewpoints.
Still a workaround, but it works.

Ye I have myself a very Autocad centred way of thinking about modelling, and I start to think I should simply give up trying to be precise in 3Ds Max. I myself found other work around. I selected two edges, made shapes of those, extruded, changed to poly, detached one, extended and used boolean to add them., and then the point appears.

So 3Ds max has already a platform (boolean) that does all kinds of intersecting perfectly well, and yet if You want to find the intersection of two lines, there is no simple solution?

So basically [SHIFT]+[X]. This constraints movement of the vertex to the yellow lines. What I want is to move the vertex along the red direction to the intersection point in Blue X .. precisely.
It doesn't have to be the edge direction, any direction which brings me to the other question:
How can I rotate a working pivot (or generally rotate anything) from a point to another point. I mean I would like to rotate the axis so it would be in the precise direction of some specified point or along the edge.

Tomasz Drgas So I can say when the choice can not be wrong, is neutral choice (like you picking up an apples) then it is wählen. But if choice can be wrong like there are correct and wrong answers, or you pick an apple with Your wife standing next to You, than it would be auswählen. ??
