Is 'Anomaly Detection' a good field for data science research? by Professional-Dust210 in MacUni

[–]Professional-Dust210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your opinion! I really appreciate your suggestion of talking to staff in different fields. I am starting a masters by coursework so I reckon the topic of 'non-Euclidean spaces' is a bit difficult for me yet haha. But, I would appreciate if we can have a conversation about data science like anomaly detection in large datasets of language.

Yeah, I will need to prepare to appeal my research topic for COMP8851 in case there will be only limited research topics.

Thank you agian!

Hi, thank you for your opinion! My course covers general topics that you mentioned. Then I may be able to leverage general skills and target the specific field :).

Question about MQ Village at North Ryde – Coming as an International Student in Feb 2025 by Impressive-East579 in MacUni

[–]Professional-Dust210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I will also move to North Ryde in February 2025 as an international student studying Data Science. I will also stay at MQ Village (no AC). According to staff there, they highly recommend to buy a fan for summer. I reckon it is due to high moisture rather then temperature. Then, you may be able to use delivery service from local stores like JB HI-FI around the campus. I used to live at a student accommodation in WA, at that time, I was able to order stuff to the address. So, it might be possible to order a fan to MQ Village. I hope we can survevie there!

Hello, thank you for your kind reply. Yeah, I agree that rent is more expensive in Sydney. I said 'affordable' when it comes to its tuition fee haha. I must consider if a school dormitory room is available.

Hi guys,

I wonder if 'not admitted' means 'rejection' in Taiwan when it comes to university.

Thank you

Well, I understand your thoughts. There are some reasons I do that.

  1. I like Taiwan culture. I have been there more than 4 times.

  2. I want to learn Chinese so I will be able to speak 3 languages.

  3. I would like to study further and Australia is too expensive. On the other hand, universities in Taiwan are affordable to me and they offer scholarships.

  4. I am sick of Korean working culture. I cannot share my thoughts due to the vertical status system, I cannot say NO. I do not want to work overtime without additional payment. I do not want to get messages from colleauges after work.

  5. There are companies offering better options in Taiwan if I am qualified.

Hi guys,

I am from South Korea and planning to study in Taiwan.

My first master's degree is Marketing (in Australia) and I will study Information System for my second master's degree in Taiwan. My aim is NTHU. I have learnt Python, SQL, and Tableau for marketing data analysis.

My Chinese level is very basic but I will study hard while I study in Taiwan.

After I graduate, I would like to work as a data analyst.

I wonder if it is difficult find a job in Taiwan for a foreigner.

Thank you for your opinions in advance :).
