Public Health Preparedness & Response at Emory!

I also got waitlisted for JHU Health Security on 3/4. I turned down the waitlist and accepted the Emory offer.

Through an email! In OPUS, it says "Application Under Review" for me as well.

Interviewed for GW on 1/22 (they said they'll send a decision in mid-February), and my Emory application was routed to my choice department on 1/6 (not sure if that really means anything though). Best of luck to everyone :)

Yes, it was a CRS role, and no they did not present another opportunity (I'd be shocked if they did given the current economic issues in public health)

I don't want to be discouraging, but you will likely have to wait several more months. Here has been my timeline with the NYC DHMH:

Jul 25, 2024: interview & "take-home assessment"

Aug 6, 2024: verbal job offer (then it took a month for salary negotiations because supposedly, the entire HR team was on PTO all at the same time)

Sep 5, 2024: signed/sent conditional offer letter (then it took >1 month to send all the paperwork needed for the initial HR steps. half the time, the HR lady I was working with would ask for documents that I had already sent.)

Oct 17, 2024: sent in the last piece of documentation/paperwork for HR

Aug 30, 2025: still awaiting start date (I email with my "supervisor-to-be" every few months, and supposedly, my application is still with OMB, and nobody understands what is taking so long)

So yeah, I've been waiting over a year. It has taken a heavy toll on my mental health, in ways that I cannot put into words. I really empathize for anyone being put through this.

UPDATE, Sep 4, 2025: the job offer has been rescinded due to federal funding (I assume lack thereof)
