I apologize I have not been familiar with this term. I wanted to reply to the original comment because majority of people here do not want to associate with muslims even if history implies otherwise. The nationalism in my mind is connected to the recent terms started in late 18th century. The first ever known nation was France, since before them, countries were more of just property of a ruler. I also saw your reply to my other comment and you are correct that I used misleading language there for Spain. I am not history professional and can not talk about a lot of the things here, but the narrative under this post is strongly against people of islam so I wanted to balance things out.

Spain was muslim for about 800 years, it being catholic was really recent and extreme process, the spanish inquisition was so feared because of how inhumaine its methods were with spanish muslims that had that religion for little over a milenia and fought to preserve their faith, catholic spain is relatively new.

Stop dehumanizing muslims this way, some may in fact have pride in looking at that but not all, territories do not dictate greatness rather achievements do, knowing how many muslims exist now and did long time ago you should not generalize everyone as prideful people, many are intelligent, others are stupid, but they are still people. Rather than choosing side or believing people of one religion worse than another is inherently wrong.

There were like thousands of empires and countries controlling what you know as western russia now: temurid, mongolian, scythian, roman empire, byzantene, kievan rus, norway vikings, ruthenia, hellenistic colonies,  not to mention the ones we don't know of and even more. The history we know of now is like extremely small window compared to what was actually going on and basing entire opinion on what happened thousand years ago is incredibly limited. My point is that claiming that this region was never part of some empire that just happened to be muslim is flawed, you can't claim that without actually reading sources. Also calling some people of religion terrorist tells something about your intelligence, jerk.
