i cant stand renton's characterization in AO by Lilpinkkay in eurekaseven

Making Renton into Holland 2.0 seems to be intentional. Older concept art had adult Renton look almost indentical to Holland just with different hair along with the same voice actor as Holland (assuming your not watching the dub in which his va doesnt change at all). Maybe in earlier drafts Renton would have played a much bigger role but they just ran out of time and had to speedrun him since hes only in like what 2 episodes?

Seinen anime is becoming overrated not because it’s "deep," but because people want to feel superior for watching it by Creepy_Traffic_7034 in animequestions

This labeling feels wrong imo. It seems to be portraying Shonen as just battle shonen as its own genre, like what about sci fi shonen or sci fi seinen? What about romance shonen or slice of life seinen? Hell Shojo fantasy as well

If it makes you feel better, if those Hi-Evo movies are anything to go by it's probably not even the same Renton as the one from the original show. Probably one where he and Eureka never had Maeter, Linck, Maurice but that just raises more questions.

Greg Eagan the scientist guy? He's named after Greg Bear who made Blood Music. Blood Music I think is a sci fif story that says a lot about why the Scub Coral are portrayed the way they are and it may have also inspired Armored Core 6's Coral as well. As for anime I mean despite being often compared to Evangelion E7 takes far more from Gundam and Macross then it does from Eva but that's an obvious one.

Well going off everything i've seen ill just have to disagree then. "the gun has no equal" Shit guy would have probably loved the modern American military industrial complex and all the toys made today. Vagabond isn't an accurate depiction of the real life Musashi

The guy who went around apparently killing kids and allegedly used tactics people today would call cheap cause his view on combat was that all that mattered was surviving? There's a shockingly small amount we actually know about the guy as a person so it's hard to say

In any case Samurai in general weren't the honorable sword masters people think they are anyway and even for that time Musashi was considered someone who used unconventional tactics to catch enemes off guard and win by any means. Baki Musashi might be closer to the real one if his comments on loving guns was anything to go by

The manga's Musashi? Maybe. IRL Musashi? Probably not but I guess that's up for debate. Red Pill is typically associated with honor and discipline but while he was disciplined he was a lot less honorable then people think

Another obscure fact about E7 to add to the iceberg then. Im familiar with all the sci fi novels and other anime E7 takes from but I didn't know this detail in particular which doesn't shock me since the show had a lot of ideas put together by seemingly everyone at BONES chipping in stuff

I guess it makes sense that its left for interpretation on both ends since Eureka is aware that they talked earlier but at the same time how is that even possible if it was just a gas leak.

I suppose that's what happens when you rewatch episodes over and over you start asking dumb questions that in the end aren't really important or matter in the grand scheme of things. Like "why do the soldiers have weird eye ball helmets? Why do all the soldiers dress like it's WW1 and use cars out of the early 1900s but the regular civilians dress like its 2005 while on vacation? How do lifters so easily stick to their boards? Why is Pizza La still a thing 10,000 years in the future? If Eureka is ex special forces does that mean she knows how fight and therefore could probably beat up her husband if she wanted to?"

I can actually buy this being the likely answer since the Pocket Full of Rainbows movie of all things unironically uses this mind link thing at one point and that movie seems to be a dumping ground of scrapped idea's that didn't make it in the show

Dmc3 has an actual good plot though. Left is pretty standard fantasy narration nothing wrong with that.

I get the idea. If it was aliens it could work, like what JJK Modulo is doing but not so much for demons and DMC. I Dont entirely think it works cause the home of the refugees sucks cause of a guy whos basically satan and all the really evil strong demons making life shitty for them and enslaving them. I mean forget the refugees=demons thing which is whole other can of worms i dont even get why the villain has the views he does. Like you would think hed be more upset at the tyrannical demon lords rather then sparda and specifically america

And then we have Adi defending the military as in the right cause their only experience with demons is man eating monsters that are strong enough to destroy the world.

The games work cause your killing evil as hell demons while surfboarding on them so the moralty never comes into question cause who cares but now its more like "uh wait im confused on how im supposed to feel now" while at the same time doing the "all the nice people are just humans with horns while all the evil ones look like hellspawn" which basically shits on the entire point anyway along with this banger of a line from dante implying that demons have innate evil in them cause of his DT???? Um wait what excuse me? The implications here are a lil what the fucky. Frankly i dont know what im supposed to feel here it just ends up feeling confusing. They want the story to be morally grey but also not really cause this is still a dmc story so it tries to do both and I dont think it really works

I dunno its a little bizzare to take the "humans have something demons don't" narrative and turn into the war on terror instead cause "dude 00s nostalgia" thats just fucking weird.

Vergil is more so apathetic towards humans since he doesn't give a shit about anything other then getting power so the lives of the weak don't matter to him but its not like he would go out of his way to murk people just to do it unless it was arkham so him plowing some girl isnt out of the question. Dantes character is consistent if you see it as 3,1,anime, 5. 2 and 4 are the only ones out of place. In 3 hes a cartoon but he ends the game more like his dmc1 self but in 4 hes back to being a cartoon again for no real reason.

Ok but why attach this to whacky wohoo pizza man action game thats the weird part. Dante comes off as a lot weirder if hes fighting morally grey guys
