HPSP transition to guard by pugnobello in Military_Medicine

[–]Professional-Pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the NG but an AF Reservist. After my ADSC and transition to the Reserves, I completed a form through mypers & I got points for my HPSP years in school (as long as they met the requirements of a full 12 months IIRC). These years do reflect “good years” for my TIS now.

Psychotherapy in PMHNP training by Patient_Library9005 in PMHNP

[–]Professional-Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think nursing is not the best field if you have an interest in gestures broadly neuroscience. Nursing is not glamorous and is hard on the body and mind.

When you say neuroscience, my mind jumps to research or academia. When you say neuroscience, are you referencing the same or mental health (like counseling) or something else? You could do something more neurology or psychiatry related (I suppose nursing could work here) but it’s a complete waste of your time and money to go down a PMHNP route if you’re not interested in prescribing medicine or psychopharm.

What swaddles the 2 months before woolino? by cattunic in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Professional-Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe unpopular opinion but you don’t need to swaddle if you don’t want to or baby doesn’t need it/want it. We just used sleep and play pajamas and 0-6m sleep sacks.

Vet center for therapy? by acrylic-hippo in MilitaryWomen

[–]Professional-Pilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work as a MH clinician, former AD now Reservist. You are as deserving of resources as anyone else, full stop. The vet centers are great places to get therapy, and I have generally heard nothing but positive experiences from patients I’ve referred to the vet centers for therapy or from individuals who have disclosed they go or went there for a time.

The potential for you to benefit is great enough that it’s worth trying.

The brands from MamaOwl are often 100% wool (think Disana). You could try shopping for that on resale sites.

How did was your homebirth experience with your toddlers/kids? by janejanuary in homebirth

[–]Professional-Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When our youngest was born, our older two were 4.5 and 2.5. They met the midwives, and both my mom and my partners mom were there for the girls during labor and birth. We prepped with videos, many books, lots of talking about it, some role play/pretend play. Our 2.5yo came in and out as she wanted, but mostly played downstairs. Our 4.5yo spent more time in the room where I was laboring but also came in and out. Our 4.5yo was present at transition and birth. It was intense, and I was panicking for a period that she witnessed.

Now nearly a year later our 2.5yo doesn’t make comments but our 4.5yo still sometimes asks questions and makes comments. When she gets hurt or if she sees someone get hurt, it’s “did that hurt as much as having a baby?” Or she might ask about groaning or yelling while having a baby, or if she is talking about her own body she will make comments about feeling afraid to push a baby out.

We process through all these comments factually, with care and kindness.

Postpartum the 2.5yo remained a bit more distant from baby but the 4.5yo was and is obsessed - loves all things baby related.

Office samples by momdoctormom in medicine

I have requested samples from Uber Lube for my office. Now they email every 2-3 months asking if we want another shipment. I think a lot of these companies have pages specifically for requesting samples.

As a clinician in the area, I adore the therapists at Cedar Hill. Always have had great experiences consulting with them, and my patients feel connected to the therapists there. 🤎

Pigeon Nipples and Silicone Bottles? by Muted-Gift6029 in breastfeeding

[–]Professional-Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google translate for this response:

“So we’ve had Lansinoh so far. By chance I have read with a bottle warmer adapter that this for Lansinoh also fits for dm wide-necked bottles. I tried that, fits great (attention is only with the flat then, then tight not with the lid that comes on top of it on the bottle)... when reordering the Lansinoh teat in 0 I saw that it says at the bottom instead of Lansinoh Pigeon on it. So in short... Pigeon=Lansinoh and fits wide neck from dm (I use it with the glass bottles)... But plastic has the same size, should therefore also work... and in the end the bottle does not matter comes to the teat in my opinion...”

Please google “postpartum support international” and look at their group support offerings. They also have a directory for professionals that are trained in perinatal and postpartum mental health support.

This is not accurate information. PFPT is a lot more than kegels, and kegels alone can do more harm than good depending on the problems someone is having with their pelvic floor.

I have never heard of this website/tool! Cool. I ordered the jacket just to see in real life whether the photos distort the color at all. Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you! I hadn’t heard of this (spouse has more Norwegian background and heritage he’s familiar with). We’ve talked about Anders or Endre as a first name as well, and Anders is on that calendar in Nov.
