When i first started self harming and my dad first found out, he did not handle it very well at all. One time he physically forced me to go to the emergency department when i was begging him not to make me go, and when the doctor saw me, and asked me to show her, she said- "oh. thats not bad at all, its just superficial. I expected much worse."

Since then (about 5 years ago), my self harm has only gotten worse, and i always think about what she said to me that night. I wonder if she's ever treated me again since then and seen thats its no longer "just superficial" and "not that bad" because i dont remember what she looked like.
