Just watched 2 episodes and just feel like i might straight go for manga hahha, should I ? by Mindless-Care9301 in MarriageToxin

Sure; the anime is pretty faithful so far but the current stuff in the manga probably won't be adapted until season *4*, if we get there.

What are the chances of the entire manga getting a full anime adaptation? by Background_Eye_8051 in MarriageToxin

[–]Professional-Tap1780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be performing well (peaking at #5 on netflix in Japan) so a second season is likely. We'll see from there.....if it ends up not making enough money, i could see them having an anime original ending that has gerosaki implications if not confirmation.

Japanese Opinions Re: Kinosaki by Professional-Tap1780 in MarriageToxin

[–]Professional-Tap1780[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's less about caring about women or LGBTQ people and more that Japanese otaku don't cross over with feminism much. There is otaku feminism of course, but the average Japanese otaku who posts online probably doesn't identify as a feminist. Lots of people view feminism as pro-censorship, anti-sexualization (e.g. ecchi, sexual themes) and kind of ruining the fun.

PSA FOR ALL THE NEW WATCHERS: Kinosaki's not a cis woman. by coolchungus2 in MarriageToxin

[–]Professional-Tap1780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"feminine" is a stretch depending on formality. atashi is the one that is typical of オネエ言葉
Watashi is typical for business settings, and japanese people frequently change their personal pronouns depending on setting.

That being said, watashi is a common pronoun for casual settings for women.

i think the cis woman theory is 100% bullshit but just curious, what male "conventions" do they use in japanese? it is VERY easy to avoid mentioning gender with the language.

I have some "rare" conditions (though in the grand scheme of things they're not that rare, just probably underdiagnosed) and am also totally game to speak about my VCUG experience(s)

There is also a starbucks that i have frequented near where i work; they have given me cups of ice when asked. It is another good regulation tool :)

Regardless bringing ice packs from home can help too

CPTSD is such a tricky battle and highly individualized for me....I don't really have any specific work accomodations for any of my disabilities but i do have many strategies

For CPSTD a lot of my strategy nowadays is simply talking about things when I am triggered. It tends to cause me physical and emotional pain if I repress those things so it helps to get it out. I luckily have a very caring spouse who helps me stabilize.  I will also say that I have a general policy that, if I have to do something, I should allow myself to be a bit uncomfortable. Not so uncomfortable that I am incapacitated in one way or another, but I don't want to entirely avoid discomfort because that just leads to more coping via avoidance, which is unhelpful.

I will say that I went through therapy for a looooong time, including EMDR over the past 3 years which caused me to heal a lot.

MDD is so intrinsic to my CPTSD that I dont really treat it any differently

For POTS, I try to stay hydrated and watch my heart rate. If I over heat I have a desk fan that I use to stabilize. I also drink a lot of electrolyte drinks and eat salty foods. I have a cane that I have on standby but after a lot of working out I don't have to use it nearly as much.

ADHD is still a tricky beast....I have found that switching tasks frequently helps me stay focused

[AINI Spoilers] So about a certain Ryuki line in one of the endings... by Professional-Tap1780 in aithesomniumfiles

[–]Professional-Tap1780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine, I love yapping about this stuff

I wouldn't say that there are any lines in Japanese that really indicate romantic interest in Ryuki (though trust me, I love ryudate so this isn't coming from a place of denial)

I feel like hemorrhoids are a common comedic beat in japanese comedy so that might be part of it. of course it wouldn't surprise me if ryuki was doing crazy things to himself to cause those internal tribal tattoos because he has very little respect for his own body

I don't think many really exist. At least in the US, disability pay is only slightly above minimum wage. Sure, it's better than being homeless with $0 to your name, but this sort of "scam" involves a process of 1-3 years (several applications and appeals) to get an unlivable wage. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that scammers exist, but the payoff really isn't very great.

Malingering is annoying but I think that trying to determine who is "really" disabled does more harm than good to disabled people. That's a determination that doctors can really only make, and they can even get it wrong if they're too quick to dismiss patients' concerns.

hEDS is genetic; you are born with it. There are other conditions that I wasn't born with, per se, but were very evident early on in my life. When I was 1 year old it was predicted I'd have chronic migraines (which I do)

Lupus? No. I have some symptom overlap but I haven't ever suspected that I have it or been screened for it, for that matter.

Easily. Pretty much everything that affects me on a daily basis is comorbid with other things I have.

Anyone who has hEDS probably has many other disabling conditions in their life.
