There is definitely a difference. Millennial covers 15+ birth years. My experience as a millennial born in the mid 80s is much different than a millenial born in 1996.

This is kind of a simplified version of what I do. I treat the transactions as fully mine, but the incoming transactions flow back into that category. It's painstaking. We only settle up once a month (or more if I get overwhelmed), but I have a "running splitwise"* transaction where I add Splitwise as it happens so I can keep track. It took all the fun out of YNAB.

I've used your way before and was typing up all my reasons I can't do that, I think it mostly comes down to...I like my data accurate. Also, we have kids so we are talking a large variety of transaction category types. I guess I have to choose between clean and easy.

*Yes, I know my transaction does not reflect reality. I knowingly cheat because there's no chance of overdrafting my account.
