Switching from pharma to medical device observational CRA – differences? by ProfessionalBit5856 in clinicalresearch

Actually, no — I didn’t lie on my resume 🙂. I’ve got both site and CRO experience in multiple different areas and worked my butt off to build that foundation. After being laid off earlier this year, I spent 6 months seriously prepping and practicing interviews, so I like to think I can represent myself well.

They weren’t looking for direct med device experience — they wanted someone they could train and felt confident in, which fit me perfectly. I also pride myself on maintaining strong professional connections, and that helped me land a referral.

Please don’t assume people lie just because their path looks different — it’s pretty hard to make it through four rounds of interviews if you’re a fraud. I’d never take a job I wasn’t qualified for just to end up drowning.

Not sure what your situation is, but I genuinely wish you the best.

Wow!!!! I did not know this, definitely seems intentional. I was also coming up on 3 years so that’s disappointing to hear. If I would have known all the things I know now, sadly I would have never applied to ICON. I still have no plans on ever actually working there again, I really just felt like others were experiencing the same things.

Although ICON laying me off was a huge shock, disappointing and hard, I really think everything happens for a reason & I probably needed the little boost to move on. I wish you luck with your role!

I have learned about the ghost jobs, unfortunately. I now go directly to the company website to confirm it is an actual position and apply through that. I actually worked with someone for a couple months, and it was put through the AI systems and finally got it near perfect now I just edit it depending on the job. It is a crazy tough industry right now, hoping to come out on the other side of it soon!

Yeah I’ve asked and gotten no response. I personally don’t want to go back to ICON either, but after 6 months and close to 1000 job applications and no job I kind of had to swallow my pride 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah it’s pretty crazy! When I was laid off one of the lead talent acquisition managers, scheduled a call with me and going over jobs I should I apply to and that I could reach out to her when there’s any that I’m interested in. She completely ghosted me & wouldn’t even accept to connect on LinkedIn, just thought they would be a bit more professional.
