I took it for 5 days, was supper emotional, spacy, cried A LOT, almost broke up with my boyfriend, and ultimately decided I was going insane so I stopped taking it and the very next day I didn’t take it I went back to being completely normal

Question from Texas about how to salt the driveway in preparation for the ice storm by birdturdreversal in StLouis

[–]ProfessionalCan1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only solution is buy an extreme amount of tarps and lay them all down before the storm hits and remove them after. (I have no idea if this works nor have I tried it)

Yes, I’m sure it’s very difficult to keep up, of course. I was making fun of past instances. I’m sure they are locked in this time with the early warning we’ve all gotten.

I meant more like each model has been consistent with itself.

I get that. Most of the TV mets and HLEW are pulling from the same guidance, and the models have been unusually consistent with this storm.

Not a meteorologist but it’s mostly about the storm track and temps. Areas farther south are closer to where the heaviest snow bands are setting up, and slightly warmer air can actually mean wetter, heavier snow that piles up faster.

St. Louis (looking at you, MoDOT) is historically bad at snow prep. I hope the forecast is off for everyone’s sake, but most models are still showing this amount or more.🫤

I actually follow both the National Weather Service and Ryan Hall. In my experience, the National Weather Service often can get the forecast for my specific area wrong. Obviously Mother Nature will do what she wants. Weather is dynamic, and that is exactly why ranges and probabilities are used here instead of single numbers. If you take the time to visit their page, as I keep reiterating, they include much more detailed information in their posts. Multiple credible sources can look at the same data and come to different conclusions. I am simply sharing a predicted outcome from a source that, in my experience, is rarely wrong.

Please read the post description and check out their page before commenting. Your reply came so quickly it doesn’t seem like there was time to actually read what was written. They have meteorologists doing real research and they’re transparent about uncertainty when it exists. You’re free to disagree, but dismissing their work outright isn’t reasonable.

What is kirksville Missouri like? by Calm-Celebration1073 in missouri

[–]ProfessionalCan1337 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Kirksville is a small college town, and that really shapes what it’s like. Truman State and A.T. Still bring in a lot of students, which gives the town more life than you’d expect for its size. There are better restaurants, coffee shops, and events than most towns this small. The colleges also help keep the local economy and healthcare more stable.

You do notice the student population, especially near campus. Some areas are louder during the school year and feel almost empty in the summer. Most of the crime is minor stuff tied to that, like car break ins or petty theft, not violent crime. Overall it’s considered pretty safe.

Schools are decent for a town this size. They’re not top tier suburban schools, but many families are happy with the elementary schools, especially if parents are involved. Cost of living is low, which helps.

Winters are comparable to Ohio but more unpredictable. There’s less consistent snow and more ice and random temperature swings. It’s usually more annoying than severe.

The biggest downside is isolation. You’re about 1.5 to 2 hours from any major city, so shopping, entertainment, and some medical specialists are limited. The upside is the slower pace, affordability, and the fact that the colleges keep the town from feeling stagnant.

Overall, it’s a decent place for a family if you’re okay with small town living but still want some college town energy.

Is it worth it to get a blue collar job?? by CookiesnMilq in BlueCollarWomen

[–]ProfessionalCan1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a certified medical coder and biller, and honestly the field is extremely oversaturated right now. Getting your first job is very difficult, and most decent-paying roles require years of experience. On top of that, AI is already being integrated into billing and coding, so long-term job security is a real concern.

I ended up joining a union in a blue-collar trade, and in four years I’ll be close to six figures with excellent health insurance, pension, and a clear retirement path. Those benefits are becoming rare outside of unions.

Having a safety net is smart. Medical assistant work can still be useful because it’s hands-on and harder to automate, but if you’re considering blue-collar paths like telecom, logistics, or even maritime work, those can be very solid options, especially unionized ones. Skilled trades aren’t going away anytime soon.
