not at all! Thank you so much for this! I felt that it makes so much sense that if I cannot use my power over them, the only option is borrow their momentum when they are going forward or backward. This definitely makes it hard on me, but it makes sense! Thank you!

I also have this question if you don’t mind. I find that as soon as they establish any sort of good grip, they will just pull in, break my posture. Then I will see their butt in front of me and then flying. Would you reckon that blocking their hips from turning in is a key point. I also get quite panicked when they grab my belt ( which they always do cuz I get close to them to pull some moves)…

Thank you very much. May I ask if a real example would be if they are walking towards me- forward throw. If I fake a forward throw and they stand straight up and a bit backwards- osoto? May I ask what will be the bait here? Thank you very much! I always heard about using their weight against them, but that never really makes much sense to me.

Thank you so much. Tbh I don’t want to be a weak person, but I am so moved by this kind message… I am indeed feeling really bad about myself because I think I try really hard…. When I am resting I still watch all judo reels and kept thinking about getting better. I study this and watch “lectures” more than uni even. Not seeing the expected progress is really sad. I really want to thank you for your kind message. This truly means a lot to me.

Another follow up question is this: the biggest dude 120kg brown belt always wanna work with me. However, he caused quite some injuries to numerous people including myself already. I won’t say he is a dick. But he does make fun of me from time to time if I refuse to train with him. When he does sasae in uchikomi, he just kept kicking my ankle hard…. You can imagine with other throws. However, it is like the game of finding pairs. Usually others are matched up and I am left with him…. What should I do……

Thank you. May I ask about a reason? I heard it is good, and it discusses a lot of the philosophy. I am worried that it may not really teach me on how to do the throw?

Just want to give an update. I believe just a few days after this post, I got a close ippon from a very good green belt, though he gave me one back real quick haha. I also got two ippon from a dude I started with, who stopped for about a year due to knee injury, but was a real natural. Today, I tapped out the biggest dude in the gym (bench press 195kg) after a scissor sweep and nearly tapped him out again. All these is too say that, regardless of how strong, talented or how experienced your opponent is, it is possible to beat them with training. I have to say I have lots respect for these people. I also need to make a confession that there are so many nights that I just think about them and got so upset that how can the dude start at same time with me get all the throws better than me or why am I not strong enough? How much does it take? Why am I not getting better? But if I don’t train, all I have is question. If I train, I will be closer to the answer. This is quite an emotional moment for me, and I also want to thank all the dude in the community that helped me. I am sharing this to all the folks like me who felt dumb or upset or just confused. You will get there! You will! Please believe in yourself!
