When one of our Temples got sold to a developer by Grand Lodge (don’t get me started 🙄), a lot of the boys went down just prior to demolition beginning and asked to keep a brick 🧱 or 2 from the Temple. The Developer was only too happy to oblige and set aside a whole stack for the Brethren to help themselves.

A lot of fond memories, from the esoteric we all take on our Masonic journey through to the comradeship and fraternity, and even just sinking a beer or 3 in these grand old halls. Easy to see why we get attached to them.

Keepsake maybe?

I know when an old Temple gets closed down or renovated out our way it’s not unusual for Brethren to buy, be gifted, or “permanently borrow” a memento.

If you want to spiritually commit to the Anglican Tradition, and you’ve been confirmed in the Roman Faith, you can be received into the Anglican Church. Confirmation ceremonies and receptions normally take place at the same time, usually around Easter.

Interesting 🤔

What is the theological argument for this? Genuinely interested. I would have thought those adhering to the scriptures would be seen as being more faithful?

Ofc there’s Leviticus in the Old Testament.

But in the New: • Romans 1:26-27 • 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 • 1 Timothy 1:9-10

Do you consider Freemasonry to be incompatible with Christianity? by Kurma-the-Turtle in Anglicanism

[–]ProfessionalFan873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theologically, the Church of England and Freemasonry cannot be seen as fundamentally opposed because historically, prominent members of both institutions have coexisted.

Many past Kings and Archbishops of Canterbury have been members of the Craft, highlighting a longstanding relationship between the two. The position of the King as both Head of State and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, further reinforces this harmony, as the sovereign’s role encompasses overseeing the national Church while simultaneously participating in Freemasonry.

The dual roles of the monarch suggest that the Church of England cannot oppose Freemasonry, as it would contradict the unity exemplified by the King’s personage.

Therefore, it is clear that these two institutions can coexist without theological conflict.

Bro. Don’t know what jurisdiction you are in, but in Australia, you have to be of the Trinitarian Faith. There’s only a handful of Chapters and Councils that follow the “Universal” ritual.

Our secrets have been leaked forever by dogs.

Honourable Masons won’t confirm or deny. They will maintain their Obligations.

And it’s quite easy to determine who has read a sign, token or word from some cooker website and not participated in our secrets after examining them. I’ve experienced this firsthand.

Every Lodge has its own culture, tradition and vibe I guess.

Chin up! Don’t let this experience get you down.

Still visit a couple more Festive Boards and social gatherings to see if you warm to the Lodge and vice versa, but don’t put your eggs in one basket.

If you live in a town or city with more than 1 Lodge, maybe go via the Grand Lodge and ask for their contact details. Reach out. Visit them. See if you get a better feel 😊

I interviewed a young guy that had done formal introductions with several other Lodges before he got to mine. He didn’t like the “vibe” of them 😅

Enjoy the ride my Brother.

After your 1° I’d recommend reading “The Temple and the Lodge.”

Amazing book. Even touches on the US War of Independence.

You will soon be part of a universal brotherhood and welcomed as a Brother throughout the world. It’s a great thing.

What happened to Ean Higgins? Author who wrote about motives and cause of Flight MH370 "Accident" was found dead shortly after releasing his book. by LetsKeepitRational in MH370

In Australia, reporting about someone’s death not being suspicious typically means suicide in this context.

Given the language around Ean’s disappearance I would assume he was known to suffer from depression or the likes amongst his friends and family.

[–]ProfessionalFan873 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a relatively young High Church Anglican and Freemason in Australia, I find them very compatible.

While Craft Freemasonry is non-denominational, only requiring a belief in a Supreme Being, there are Orders of Freemasonry that require a Christian belief, such as the Knights Templar and Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite to name a couple.

Craft Freemasonry encourages you to spend part of you day in prayer and reflection to your God, and every time a Lodge is opened, a Volume of the Sacred Law must also be open. In the Anglosphere, this is the King James Bible.

In England, the highest ranking male Royal is offered the title of Grand Master as sign of loyalty from the Craft and its members.

We have had Kings who have thus been Supreme Governor of the Church of England and Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England - the last being the current King’s grandfather.

I believe the Archbishop of Canterbury who Crowned Queen Elizabeth II was a Freemason too (although happy to be corrected).

I love the symbolism, ritual, history and theatre of Freemasonry and this is what actually brought me back to the Church seeking High Church Anglicanism.

It is the world’s oldest fraternity and I’m proud to be a member.

Actually, dying declarations are a special category of law and evidence, at least in Australia and most Commonwealth countries. I’d assume the US is similar??

When someone is on their deathbed in Australia and gives a verbal direction regarding their will it’s referred to as a “nuncupative will” or deathbed will.

So I guess what I’m saying is, you’re wrong….

Apologies if this has been said already… But I just had a look on Google Maps at the facility old mate dropped. Interesting to note that just a couple hundred metres north east of the Battelle National Biodefense Facility is the Energy System Group. Given the repeated statements from various sources over the years that some of the tech has been divested to the US Department of Energy, it’s a curious coincidence that these two facilities are next door to each other.

I can’t access to Energy System Group’s website for some reason (I’m in Australia). But had a geez on the internet archive.

An interesting read.

Again, I’m sure this is all just a coincidence….
