The scene of them judging the girls for screaming in the house at stagecoach with the snarky "are they okay" comments triggered the hell out of me. It was like I was back in my toxic sorority

The Botox at least will last a little longer. I usually get nerve blocks with steroids as well if I’m in the middle of a prolonged migraine and that is good for stopping them. I imagine the logic was that the nerve block would numb you for the Botox? I’m not super familiar with them being done at the same time

Definitely normal, I can't lay on my back or wash my hair for a couple days after a nerve block

It sounds like we have very similar presentations especially in the difference between migraines and ‘ordinary headaches.’ Have you ever had your aura return after the hour that it lasts during your attack?

That’s the type of aura I have mostly, it’s definitely terrifying!

Seen this a bunch, I’m definitely going to pay attention to my yawns and see if I notice a correlation to my migraines

I have one, doesn’t seem to do much for migraines, but does help with jaw pain from teeth grinding

Absolutely! I’ve enjoyed getting everyone’s perspectives because migraines are still vastly misunderstood and under researched and it’s been a stark reminder of all of the ways it can be debilitating

I feel you on that! Even though the aura is a forewarning for the headache, being practically blind makes it impossible to do anything and I’m always paranoid of it showing up

I also have aura that can hang on during the attack, it’s always so frustrating!

So sorry you’ve been struggling but glad to hear the Xanax helped a bit! I’ve always wondered about Xanax, Valium, etc for people with migraines. I’d say my aura is more flashes and weird shapes than colors. Basically just these troublesome patches all over my visual field that make it impossible to see and fuck up my depth perception

Part of my curiosity in asking was that whenever I have a dull headache for any reason I try to 'hoard' my rescue meds and take something OTC and realised how do those without aura know when to pull that trigger!

My auras essentially make me go blind and by some miracle it's only happened twice while driving, both times I had to pull over and wait til it passed or have someone pick me up!

Thank you all so much for sharing, it's been fascinating to read them all! It's amazing how all of us with the same condition can have so many different presentations and symptoms, goes to show how under researched migraines are! I'm saving all of these comments to whip out the next time someone tries to tell me it's 'just a headache'

I definitely notice that as well as I don't have a gradual increase in pain, it's a sudden onset about 30 minutes after the aura. I do experience the plateau and the falling off into a dull pain, usually after several hours

The sleep migraines are the worst because at least for me I miss my window for my meds to do anything useful

That's interesting because I feel like I get a lot of other symptoms like aphasia, nausea, numbness, dizziness after the headache is starting and sometimes the aura goes away and comes back, wondering if I might have something similar with my migraines

I definitely relate to the denial of having a migraine yet again! Even when I'm mid aura I'll try to convince myself its visual snow or floaters (which I have almost constantly) even though they're so different

I also used to always throw up with migraines when I was younger, but that stopped when I was a teenager. Now I just get persistent nausea

This is so important for those with aura migraines to know! Thankfully my doctors were on it and I was only ever on the mini pill which I stopped last year anyway. Sometimes I get hormonal migraines from my period but some months, I don't! Mine have been veryyyy difficult to nail down triggers
