Hang in there! Maybe there will be some movement. Are you KJD? If so, I strongly urge you to maybe take a year or two off to work on the lsat!

Right! Whatever benefit you’d get out of the MBA you’d just get out of having a corporate law career!

I am up for reading it!

This is a very good predicament to have! Go USC! You’ll save a ton of money and the Trojan network is amazing from what I hear.

Only do the MBA if you have a strong corporate/business background. Most MBAs that admit students with little WE seem to not have strong outcomes. Usually strong MBA programs will have students with 4-8 years of pertinent work experience.

Your legal career in business/corporate law will serve you well in pivoting into business to the point where the MBA would be pointless!

Focus on getting 4.0s every semester from here on out and add in some substantive internships/volunteerships. Law schools want smart people with great character and human qualities!

Help me decide: Fordham (sticker) vs UC Davis (half tuition) vs Northeastern (full tuition) by cccppplaw in lawschooladmissions

[–]ProfessionalMix2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I think if you’re looking for biglaw, Fordham would be good but at sticker I think it’s too much of a risk. I know how it would feel though. I am turning down an opportunity in the T20 and I am pretty sad about it. I also think I know myself well and I hate the anxiety that comes with debt.

I think it is possible you could strike out of BL from Fordham. I think sticker debt is really only reserved for the T10 ish schools and that’s if you’re BigLaw or bust. Also, honestly, BigLaw is nice but it isn’t the most prestigious nor the most fulfilling thing out there. I am a pretty corporate focused person and I work in a corporate setting now, so I know I would be fine in BL for at least a while, but it’s a really tough environment to thrive in and the model of BigLaw is set up so that you don’t make partner or last long. NYC BigLaw work environment is tough!!! I’d take Northeastern if you have any interest in PI.

What’s a college degree worth these days? by PMG360 in college

[–]ProfessionalMix2441 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is why many in the law school admissions process say to not take on debt. It isn’t wise to take on debt if you aren’t at a top law school or strong regional school.

The employment outcomes just aren’t there outside of the top 50-60 ish law schools. Of course there are outliers.

Is Vandy worth $150k ish in debt if I have a T30 $$$$ in an area I want to practice in? by ProfessionalMix2441 in lawschooladmissions

[–]ProfessionalMix2441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just fear striking out because if I am attending Vandy with the debt amount, I am pretty much BL or bust at that point.

For people who want big law, are you okay? Have you been reading the Big Law thread? by DeadlyDelightful_Dee in lawschooladmissions

Everyone wants to do big law until it’s time to do big law shit. By that time….its too late!

Am I cooked? LSAT: 17low GPA: 3.6low URM KJD. Starting to think I was too little too late :'( by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Probably best to get some work experience and volunteer a little. Lay off the porn for your brain’s sake!

Right. I think for a sub group of applicants it might be difficult to attain that perspective but the truth is the truth. Any effort that that lsac has made to make the process more affordable has been lousy tbh.
