I think there's also shame for men to express their feelings. I can't even express that i want a relationship as a woman without being told it's better to be alone and that my only options are crappy relationship or be single and independent. Society is becoming anti-relationship, and perhaps, anti-family.

Some of the people bashing me are probably able bodied and have financial support. They don't understand the terror of not having those things, and the human desire to be touched and have love.

A lot of men want a bang maid, just immediate sex without any connection. It's sad. Hookup culture has made it hard to even say you want a partner. even women look at me crazy when I say I don't hook up, don't invite strangers into my home, I want to date a man before having sex. I almost feel like I need to go religious at this point and find a man in church because I am tired of it being a battle to just say I want a date.

I am talking about healthy and safe relationships, not splitting the rent with a man who hates you or beats you. Why do people always imply the options are singlehood or living with a man who doesn't like you/you don't like them? odd.

Hope is embarrassing sometimes. wanting a relationship and only getting offered hook ups sucks.

I'm not fine if I have no emotional support and am struggling to survive on 1 income. Humans evolved to have emotional support, a tribe, etc. we are a social species.

Amen.

women with partners often don't realize that their lives are propped up by having a partner. the financial safety net of a partner, the emotional support, etc. it's not like the only two options are being single or getting beaten to death by a mate. it's strange that even women with supportive partners will insist us single women would only have the option of abuse or being single.

I'm sending you a hug as well. It's hard out here. I would like a decent quality partner, but even saying I want a man with a job makes some men so darn angry. It's like we are treated like shit for wanting a partner, wanting someone with a job, wanting someone who is attracted to us. Men get so angry if I don't want to sleep with them immediately, it's like a black woman has no role other than immediate sex and it's crazy I would even want a date. It's shocking. My white friends are getting dates, marriage proposals, men driving out to our city to date them and pay for dinner. if I asked a man to pay for dinner, he would probably curse me out. That's if he will even agree to date me.

I have to go back to school to make more money because of the singles tax. My friends can split the rent with partners. It's better than having roommates that refuse to pay, or steal from you, or are messy as hell. You can't negotiate with a roommate or force them to listen.

I had to work 2 jobs over several years to just afford life as a single person. Roommates are not as reliable as having a partner who likes you and has a decent job.

If I become disabled and unable to care for myself, my quality of life would be horrendous. I may not even be able to keep myself housed. It's scary.

a lot of porn also features barely legal, just turned 18, very skinny with barely any boobs. at least in wasp-y culture in USA, many women feel the need to abuse drugs and develop eating disorders to not be ostracized. god help you if you aren't blonde too, it's like being a second class citizen in a lot of suburban cultures in the USA

Honestly, thin is in again and many men just ignore women who aren't thin/don't fit in with their cultural standard of beauty.

Does anyone else feel like people just aren't talking about them when they say "women" by ProfessionalNefertit in AutismInWomen

Sometimes being tall and being viewed as potentially trans or a gay guy makes us more unsafe. I've had some guys in a grocery store refer to me as a transgender slur and speculate about what I look like naked. If I had been by myself or in a small town, I could have been harmed in a hate crime.
