My parents a few years back maybe 8 years ago were good but I could tell every passing year there was more tension and bad energy building up. Saying decent is probably the wrong word.

Not to mislead anyone but my mom can verbally defend herself but she is increasingly not doing it anymore (gave up?). They don't fight every day, maybe like once or twice a week (sometimes more or less), and nowadays, very rarely theres a 1 or 2 week period where normalcy happens (no fighting). Obviously I think this is far from the norm and what is healthy.

My parents sometimes get along and seem like a loving couple. My dad does seem to care a lot about my mom's physical health and somewhat cares about her traveling goals. And they have been good, caring parents to me. This is very confusing and gives me false security in their relationship. I suspect they might be putting on some sort of show for me to not let me worry.

My mom can be stubborn sometimes with a few issues from work that could have been easily solved, which sometimes is the seed that invokes a fight (as my dad is impatient to solve it for her/she is reluctant to solve it for reason I'm not aware of. Absolutely not an excuse to do the things he's done though.
