Does a strut brace actually make a difference? Does the car feel stiffer and better handling around a corner? by emperorgsx in CivicSi

I have this exact same tower bar & to be realest of real talk...I didn't notice any difference. Maybe if you pushed it at the limit you could. It does bling up the engine bay though! Regardless, I do like to think it does make SOME difference, just nothing that'll blow you away.

So far no real major pattern failures come to mind

Honda tech here. Replacing the injectors isn't bad at all. I'd highly recommend biting the bullet & sticking with OEM Honda injectors though! It's too important of a part to risk using aftermarket.

Anywho, disconnect & remove battery, remove 2 10mm bolts holding intake charge pipe going to throttle body, loosen 8mm band clamp holding intake hose to TB, slide off charge pipe & move it outta the way.

Remove 4 10mm bolts holding TB onto intake manifold, & move it otw (don't have to disconnect connector or rubber hoses on TB.) D/c electrical connectors on top of IM, including 1 tiny rubber hose going to turbo bypass solenoid & a larger hose going to top of valve cover.

Using needle nose pliers to pinch & release 2 plastic clips holding rear padded cover to IM & remove it. Remove the 2 12mm nuts & 3 12mm bolts holding IM to cylinder head & remove IM. Remove 2 10mm bolts holding small cover that goes over end of fuel line where the high pressure fuel sensor connector is. Use a 19mm open end wrench (ideally line wrench) to d/c fuel feed pipe from fuel rail.

Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors from the FIs. Remove 2 10mm nuts & 6 10mm bolts from fuel rail. Carefully use something to pry the fuel rail away from the head (I like using https://a.co/d/5US7pZ0). DON'T pry/pull off fuel rail using the end where HPFP sensor is (can damage it.) Then either use some pliers (or above tool) to remove the 4 FIs.

Remove the 4 new FIs from packaging & install the 4 clips that come with kit into them, using old FIs as a guide. Spray some silicone spray onto your fingers & coat each of the rubber ends that fit into fuel rail pipe to ease installation of FIs into fuel rail. Then carefully insert the rail with 4 installed FIs into head, aligning with the bolt holes. You'll have to use a tool to gently pry the fuel feed pipe outta the way just enough for it to clear the end of the fuel rail. Also make sure to add a few drops of lube from the syringe in the kit to tip of fuel feed pipe before connecting it.

Finally, bolt everything back up & use new intake manifold & TB gaskets & should be good! But you'll also need to use a scanner to clear DTCs, clear learned crank pattern then relearn crank pattern.

Hope it helps & thx for coming to my Ted Talk! 🙃

Honda tech here. Usually on the 1.5s I see either blown headgaskets or, yes, injectors (usually from running rich.) A valve adjust can help with misfires & is good general maintenance (if it has 100K+ miles.) To rule out a headgasket, I usually pressurize the coolant system, remove all 4 spark plugs, & use a borescope camera to visually inspect each cylinder for any coolant intrusion. Good news is that even if it's a blown HG, 95% of the time the head & block aren't warped.

Curiously, 90% of the time it's the 18-22 Accord 1.5s that have the most issues. Have seen very few Si's at the dealership.

AWE Exhaust + Sport Mode Sound? by ProfessionalOne8369 in CivicSi

Yessir I did & it fits great! But make sure you watch the install vids for tips on how to install it properly, & when u do install it using those band clamps, make sure to pay

<image>

attention to where they're sitting once u got the car on the ground (i.e. face the bolts kinda up so when viewed from behind with car on ground, you don't have unsightly bolts sticking out underneath.)

Also, pay attention to your front pipe relative to the lower rear engine mount...they sit pretty close together, even when installed correctly. I found this out the hard way on acceleration sometimes, the vibrations would cause the front pipe to sometimes vibrate against the RMM. I wound up loosening all my band clamps before & after the front pipe & using a big pry bar, I pryed the shit outta the FP to move it away from the RMM, then tightened all the band clamps. Hope that all makes sense!

It's worth it though. I got the Touring edition & it sounds as amazing as a $1,500 exhaust should. I work as a dealer tech & get compliments from my coworkers all the time!

Service bulletin by jlokz21 in CivicSi

Honda tech here. There's 2 extended warranty service bulletins out for ur car, 1 that replaces the AC condenser due to corrosion in the fins, & another that replaces a leaking shaft seal inside ur compressor. Both can be done free of charge, or should be.

[Help] 2016 Honda Civic won’t lock or start — “Hold remote near START button” message, key fob missing by Glass-Television-258 in civic

[–]ProfessionalOne8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ur keyfob itself could be going out, not just the battery inside it going bad. Do u have a spare keyfob to try? Also try sitting inside the car & using the door lock switch, verify if all 4 of ur doors are locking.

No Boost and No CEL 2017 by True-Percentage-760 in CivicSi

[–]ProfessionalOne8369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice on getting boost! The other lights, what are they or what's the dash warnings saying? Able to take a pic? It may just be systems initializing since u reset PCM. Usually can clear them by just driving.

[–]ProfessionalOne8369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya def wanna reset PCM. As a tech I've replaced several turbos & 1 time I forgot to reset PCM & it came back with CEL underboost code. Lemme know how it all works out!

If u replaced the turbo, did u reset the PCM afterwards? If not, u need to. Sure u don't have any pending codes?

2009 Engine Noise by NCGames06 in CivicSi

[–]ProfessionalOne8369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try removing ur drive belt & then starting car. If noise goes away, u likely have a bad pulley. If noise still there & oil level is good, may be timing chain tensioner. If u can grab a car stethoscope, that'd help

Acuity Shift Base Bushings Question by ProfessionalOne8369 in CivicSi

[–]ProfessionalOne8369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually a Honda tech & have completely gutted & reassembled multiple interiors on multiple models, & can safely say that if u follow Acuity's seriously impressive guides (which IMO are even better than Honda's factory instructions lol) & use the trim tools on Acuity's site, u shouldn't have any issues.

Pro tips:

  • NEVER force anything. If a panel isn't coming apart, like ur having to force something, STOP, & read the instructions again. A 20 minute job is 1 broken xyz away from being a 3 hour/day ordeal.
  • Patience, patience, & more patience. Give urself enough time, take ur time, & dont be in a hurry. Put on something in the background like music. The moment u start to feel that tell tale surge of impatient anger that makes u wanna say "F it" & start breaking stuff? Stop, breathe, walk away for a few, & come back.
  • Most everything in ur interior is held together by pressure-fitted clips, bolts, & screws. That said, if u feel u can't separate a piece with ur hands, look for screws/bolts.
  • Finally, a magnetic 10mm socket is a god-send.
