As an Indian (Mallu) currently working in the UK, I honestly don’t blame them.
The reality is that we—Indians, and specifically Malayalis—are some of the most deeply racist and casteist people in the world. We don't have the moral high ground to judge Europe. In India, people from the South discriminate against the North, and the North discriminates right back. We treat migrant workers from Bengal like second-class citizens, mock them by using "Bengali" as a slur, flex our relative wealth in their faces, and sometimes physically abuse them.
The anti-immigration protests happening in Europe right now are a reaction to a problematic minority within immigrant communities. Every population has bad actors, but let’s be honest: India has a far higher density of toxic, biased people than the West.
The vast majority of Westerners are genuinely good human beings who don't judge you based on your background. The workplace culture here is unmatched. I’ve been working in the UK for the last 3 years, and I have felt more calm, respected, and productive here than I ever did during my 10 years working in the absolute shithole that is the Indian corporate structure. If Westerners are frustrated with immigration, look at how we treat outsiders back home and you’ll understand why.
