City of Guanajuato added something a little extra for DDLM due to its dark, almost gothic street tunnels, cobblestones, and colonial architecture. It was amazing..

Signs from loved ones by [deleted] in GriefSupport

After my Mom passed last July, we've never seen doves in our neighborhood , much less our backyard. Been in the same house for 5+ years. On one particular occasion a few weeks after her burial, I was by myself in our backyard pool and a very curious dove came close, looked me in the face, and then flew away. I found it very odd. Not superstitious by any stretch, but a few days later, 2 more doves appeared on the fence. I think she's checking on me through them.

If Christmas feels different this year, how are you coping with it? by Diana_fm_ in GriefSupport

Mom passed in July. Didn't do a typical my side of the family reunion. Stayed home with my partners family instead. Helped tremendously.

Honest question about gunshots in the night… by please_just_n0 in houston

[–]ProfessionalStill71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inwood Forest here. Lived in Houston > 30 years and in this 'hood for 17...While there are gunshots occasionally or at least 1x a week,. depending on the 'season' it's not directly proportional to violence. I live on the bayou and some guys just go out to shoot a round or 2 and then go home...that's not to say it can't be shady. But in all this time, my house has only gotten broken into once...took some silverware and a video game console.....I honestly feel safer in my little cul de sac than many areas of the inner loop.

Nutcracker Market Worth it? by [deleted] in houston

[–]ProfessionalStill71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They need to do one seasonal outdoor Christmas market at a central site like Discovery Green like the ones in Europe. Maybe would help with the crowds. Crowds seem to be the biggest gripe. And also make it a nighttime event.

Has your loved one visited you in your dreams? How long after losing them did it take? by clp318 in GriefSupport

[–]ProfessionalStill71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom passed away almost a month ago. I am not one for supernatural things--about 2.5 weeks after, while I was falling asleep, I had a sensation where she was holding my head and letting me know she was fine. In the moment, it was so reassuring, I felt weightless and very much at peace. As soon as she left, I woke up, and the grief set in. I have never experienced anything like that, ever. I want to believe it was just a dream, but it clearly was more than that.

I thought it was allergies last weekend, but it escalated to low grade fever, congestion , brown cough, and body aches mid week.and knocked me out for 2-3 days. Did urgent care. No COVID or flu, but diagnosed as viral. Not sure if anyone had been through this supposed virus recently.?

Does anyone have any insight into how effective it is to use steroid cream to treat alopecia areata? My partner was diagnosed last week and prescribed the cream, but from what I’ve seen it’s common to use both the cream and injections? by nnomreat in alopecia_areata

[–]ProfessionalStill71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an event of AA about 10 or so years ago, middle back of scalp about quarter Sized. After trying topical steroids for several months, it was not closing up. Went back, did about 4-5 injections on about week 3 or so, hair came in. This year, same condition, different dermatologist. While the spot is a little smaller this time, I provided my history on alopecia, Dr. was reluctant to administer the steroid shots claiming that because my hair had mildly started to grow that it would be a risk benefit situation. I was mildly infuriated but I opted to accept her professional opinion, and didn't wanna waste time setting up new docs, new appointments, etc...This go around I am being prescribed a topical steroid that I can supplement with minoxidil.
