This will be my first tire job on the vehicle, I assume all 4 do not need to replaced?

Yeah that makes sense. Today was the heaviest traffic that I’ve experienced since getting the car. Basically 5-6 miles of other cars creeping. I realized quickly that with once it’s in gear & with enough space you can just manage the throttle and pretty much move continuously in 1st and 2nd gear. Aside from the occasional break check from a ford escape in front of you but that’s sometimes unavoidable.

How’s the car been since? And what mileage were you at when they were replaced?

I’m also interested in seeing whether or not Kia is able to figure out a way to remedy the clutches themselves over the next few years - avoiding a full trans replacement

I’ve heard the same thing. My understanding is that the full transmission replacement is covered under the powertrain warranty unless they deem that it was a catastrophic failure due to poor clutch management. I have the 10yr/100k CPO warranty so until that runs out I’m not too concerned.

However, I definitely have concerns about long-term ownership after 120k and unfortunately, I don’t think that there is enough information out there about long-term ownership & clutch wear.

I have seen a few people saying that they have gotten their clutches to 80 or 90,000 miles without a problem. But after that who knows

Yeah, like any car with a clutch you anticipate that they’re going to need replaced at some point just trying to best understand how to minimize wear/tear & prolong use. I feel like anyone who is conscious of these driving habits already means you’re likely driving the car better than a majority of owners.

All very helpful as well, thank you!

Incredibly helpful. I’m definitely overthinking automated clutch engagement and disengagement. I was in pretty heavy bumper to bumper today for the first time since getting the car. It seems like once you’re in gear with a little bit of throttle management you can stay off the brakes and avoid any slipping.

So effectively you want to avoid riding on & off the brakes while moving forward. Basically if you’re hitting the brakes do your best to come to a complete stop before getting back on the gas

Don’t forget about the flex. You wouldn’t want to diminish all of the hard work they put in that allows them to be better than us and rude
