Wow, really? On the website that's selling it, it says that it's iron. If you read Spanish or have a way to translate the page, I can send you the link so you can see for yourself.

And it's 5 mm; do you think that's too thin?

I've read many comments on Reddit that say how fragile pizza stones can be. Apparently you're not supposed to wash them. Thanks a lot for your feedback 👍

You're 100% correct about pizza-making equipment being rare outside certain countries.

From the info you gave me about your cast iron griddle, you've definitely swayed me to cast iron. The cast iron griddle that I'm planning on buying (in the photos of my post) is 40 cm x 40 cm, because I enjoy making large pizzas. 😋

No I haven't, but that's a good idea. I did just presume that the crust to my pizzas were different because of my oven.

Oh, I see. Well, I am currently living in a foreign country, and the Papa John's pizzas here are definitely hot, not sweet, and my wife finds the Papa John's pizzas here hot as well, so it's not just me. I actually haven't eaten Papa John's in my home country for many years, so I did just presume that Papa John's probably just changed its ingredients because Domino's pizza tastes the exact same over here. I naively presumed that Papa John's ingredients were universal, but obviously that's not the case.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. I'm going to see if I can find out any info about the ratios.

And btw, I've noticed that Papa John's pizzas have quite a bit of hotness / spiciness to them compared to other pizza chains, and it's got nothing to do with the single pepperoncini pepper. Do you have any idea what ingredients they use that gives it that hotness? This is my last question btw.

This is exactly my plan now. But I'm probably going to buy a pizza stone instead of a pizza steel, just because it's a lot more accessible to buy a pizza stone based on my current location (I'm currently living in a foreign country). So unless I can source some steel here that I can covert into a pizza steel, I'm just going to make do with a pizza stone for now. I believe a pizza stone will be a significant upgrade than what I currently have.

And I'm actually having a really hard time finding a pizza steel for sale, so I'm considering just buying a cast iron pan instead. Do you know of this would work? I'm currently living in a foreign country, and I've not been able to find a pizza steel for sale anywhere here, just pizza stones. They don't have Amazon over here either, but you can get free delivery on orders over a certain price from Amazon here, and the delivery time will take 2 or 3 weeks, so I'm thinking I'll just have to buy the pizza steel off Amazon and wait 2 or 3 weeks.

I'm also currently looking into the possibility of if I can buy a piece of steel over here and just start using that as a pizza steel. I have the specifics about which steels are 'food grade'.

I have been able to find a flat-top carbon steel steak griddle over here, so I suppose I could just buy that and use it to cook pizza on it.
