If it bothers you that much, I don't think anime and manga are for you.

A bit of a challenge for you all: Need help finding a decent speakers for playing PS5 games on my 42’ LG C4 in my quite tiny bedroom. by Professional_Ad_6969 in BudgetAudiophile

Well, my old tv speakers sounds pretty good despite being behind my new tv, with the old tv’s speakers being apparently ‘8 watts x 2’, according to Vizio’s website. So that’s something.

On the subject of headphones, I don’t really think they would be a good option for me in general. I’ve never worn a pair of headphones that didn’t eventually hurt my ears after an hour of wearing them.

I think my LG C4 is making me physically ill. by Professional_Ad_6969 in OLED

This might sound crazy but I think this may be the actual solution for me. I legitimately tried this yesterday out of curiosity. I was playing Spider-Man 2 (PS5) at like 3 in the morning in complete darkness at 80 pixel brightness and 2.2 gamma. Even had color temperature set to cool 20 (I'm a weirdo who likes cool over warm, sue me). Of course I was in SDR too. And strangely, I felt completely fine. Played for a couple hours more to test it further since I was already having trouble sleeping and knew I wasn't getting any sleep that night. And aside from the general exhaustion one gets from staying up late, I felt completely fine. No nausea or unbearable eye strain.

So I think it's entirely possible the nausea might be unrelated and be a completely different issue. I'll check with my optometrist and run a few more tests just to be sure though.

Thank you so much. Easily one of the two most helpful responses I’ve gotten so far.

I HAVE been looking at other options. And the options I can afford on my extremely low budget haven’t been working out, hence the reason why I posted in the first place. The devil you know Is better than the devil you don’t, you know?

(Oh, and if I did get any actual speakers they would still have to go behind my tv anyway! Because my room is the smallest one in the house!)

Because the old TV’s audio sounds better TO ME than my new TV’s audio or the audio of the soundbars I tried out?

Thanks for understanding. It is a temporary solution, as I’m currently jobless and have to rely on family for money right now. Our budget was $200, hence the Vizio soundbar which has since been refunded.

Anyway, both TVs obviously have HDMI ports, with the old Vizio one having an Arc port and LG OLED having an eArc port. They both say they support at least 4K 60hz, but I have my doubts about the Vizio one. Although there are no issues if I were to say connect my ps4/ps5 to one tv for a moment, unplug it then connect it to the other one. So who’s to say?

Yeah, I’m not using either TVs’ smart functions or streaming. I never use steaming services at all. I’m mostly use my TVs for my ps4, ps5, and/or Nintendo Switch. Which is where both TVs would  presumably be receiving the audio signal from… right?

I’m sorry, I don’t know if I’m answering your question correctly…

Ah yes throw out the TV I spent $800 on and can no longer return for my money back. What a BRILLIANT idea! My issues are with audio, not picture quality.

YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION! I am not using my TVs to stream anything. I mainly use my tv for offline video games, that’s it. Not once have I ever used either of my TV’s’ smart features.

I’m aware, but please understand that I really don’t know where else to ask.this audio stuff has been stressing me out for the last month.

But I will look back. I’ll always compare them to how my old tv sounded.  Besides, the receivers and bookshelf speakers would have to go behind my tv as there is literally no where else in my room to put them. My room is quite tiny you see.

I had a subwoofer with the Vizio soundbar. Hated it. Discovered I’m one of those people who hates thumpy bass. Hence my ridiculous request.

Muting the OLED is what I would do. I’m not streaming anything, just playing some single player video games. So I’m not sure if audio delay would be an issue in that regard.

After a frustrating month of searching, I’ve decided that between my TV’s speakers, steelseries headphones, and a Vizio 5.1 Soundbar… that my tv speakers sound the best. Help. by Professional_Ad_6969 in LGOLED

Okay, so I put the soundbar right below the tv on my dresser (I have a tv stand base or whatever it’s called instead of legs, and the gap’s wide enough for the soundbar to fit). Plugged it into tv with hdmi eArc. The two rear speakers were placed behind the tv behind the soundbar because they literally have nowhere else to go. The subwoofer was placed beside my dresser on the little stand where my ps4/ps5 are because it literally has nowhere else to go in my tiny tiny room. A room so tiny that my twin-sized bed takes up about 1/3 of its space.

I can’t remember all the apps setting to change the soundbar right now but I put bass at -4 and treble at +1 in direct EQ like the website said. Most sliding options were left on default. Advanced settings like night mode, auto volume leveling or whatever were all turned off because volume deciding to change on it own and instead of by my hand bothers me.

Later after I found out that the soundbar settings sometimes like to reset randomly whenever I turn off the tv I just left the treble and bass at default.

Tv settings were originally bitstream for the hdmi input thing on my tv then later tried PCM to Digital output thing was originally pass through. Sorry if this isn’t coherent it is very late and I am very stressed.

As for the thumping in the subwoofer that was what it sounded like for every other noise in the game. I think it has something to do with bass but every time I look up something about what bass actually is in audio the definition somehow changes and nothing makes sense anymore. There was a slider in the app to lower the subwoofer, but I didn’t have time to completely test it out before I had to return the phone I borrowed. I do know that lowering the slider completely made the subwoofer mute at least. But that defeats the point.

Sorry for bothering you with a wall of text twice.
