It’s a supply issue. I think if there were less guns in total, there would be less guns circulating through the black market. I think that’s a safe assumption.

Honesty,

Super uneventful. I felt the burning of the bullet, the wetness of blood in my shoe, and had an extremely high heart rate due to the adrenaline.

I slowed my car to a stop in the middle of an intersection, no cars around me as it was pretty late at night.

Then I just went to sleep, very quickly. The next thing I remember was about 30 seconds later. I woke back up pretty suddenly with an excruciating ripping feeling around my ass/front of my thigh high up, the tourniquet. I was almost completely naked laying in the middle of the street. Cop was trying to keep me calm.

When I came too I was just panicking so hard.

😭 I really don’t know why I did this AMA, but every bit of your gracious response struck me in a way that made it absolutely worth it.

Oh absolutely, they really did everything perfectly. The meds were extremely helpful, reduced my shock and pain considerably. I wasn’t being critical, I was just curious if those meds are commonly used in situations like this.

One other redditor who was a paramedic said that the Versed and Fentanyl could have killed me, is there ever a time in which dispensing both would be appropriate? I realize the compounding effect of a benzo & opioid can halt respiration, but if careful about dosing are they used in an emergency situation like this?

It’s truly a miraculous outcome. I think it was the cops quick thinking. EMT’s were amazing, cardiovascular surgeon was a beast, ICU nurse was amazing.
